I think my best friend stole $ from me

Yea so Ive known this kid since 4th grade.

First of all, hes shady as hell. I dunno what it is about him, but he is one of those guys who you always think is up to something. Like he always has an ulterior motive type of thing. Not to mention, I cant even grab a bag of weed from him without him trying to make $10 bucks off me. It used to annoy the shit out of me, but then I just accepted it and now I just get back at him by calling him a jew all the time (hes half Colombian/half Canadian jew). lol

So yea we went jet skiing on Tuesday and he was griping to me about how how broke he is because he just had to pay his attorney 7k and not only that, but he was on vacation in North Carolina with his girlfriend so he wasnt really generating any money during that time (he just hustles and buys and sells shit on ebay/craigslist).

So I told him Id pay for the parking fee and gas money for the jet ski if he wanted. So I did thatand I KNOW for a fact I had a $50 bill in my purse after all was said and done. We went jetskiing and then we went to his house and I bought us a pizza and then I went home after we ate it.

So the next day I was getting ready to go to the store to grab some stuff, and I went to make sure that $50 was there so I wouldnt have to stop at the atm and it was nowhere to be found in my purse. Not only that, but I remember a time where he went back to the car and he was there for a really long time while I was hanging around by the jetski in the water, and I remembered thinking, wtf is he doing. My purse was in his car then.

I called him and told him that I could have sworn I had a 50 and if he could please look for it in his car. He made a joke and said, well Ill tell u what, if I found $50 in my car, that shit would be gone, haha, no but Ill look for it. He then proceeded to tell me he was getting ready to go jet skiing again with some girl. I was like, "who? and he starts telling me he met her on the internet. I was like WTF! Thats so random because hes not really the internet type at all. I mean he checks his email and ebay and thats it. Not only that, but he has a girlfriend! I was like, umm ok. Really out of character for him, but then again, I shouldn't be surprised because he's always pulling random shit out of his sleeve like that.

The point of me telling u guys that is that he was SOO broke yesterday right? And then the day after hes with me, all of a sudden hes like going on a fucking jetski date with some random internet girl? I dont get it. And I know him...he would never take a girl out (well besides me but I don't count lol) while broke. He's too proud like that.

Oh yeaand one more thing that bothered me. He used to hang out with this kid all the time (I know that kid too) and I asked him about that, like, oh do u ever talk to whats his name any more and he told me that they dont talk anymore because the kids girlfriend thinks he stole some weed from their house. So obviously Im not the only person who is suspicious of him pulling shit like that.

So with all of that information, do you guys think I'm being too suspicious of him?

no

i'm being serious! they say you should always go with your first instinct, and i don't know why, but that was like my first thought. i got so upset thinking about it, but there's no other explanation. i'll never get to the bottom of this, it's not like i can just go accuse him lol

Posted by EarnYourKeep on Jul-05-2007 14:23:

keep it moving ma!

handle yours and do you

Posted by Slylee on Jul-05-2007 14:24:

oh yea cor version: i think my friend stole money out of my purse while we went jetskiing, but i can't really prove it. lol

Posted by dj tek on Jul-05-2007 14:24:

damn.. thats fucking lame ! its basicaly your word against his at this point but the feelings youre getting must be extra shitty ~

Man, you have some shit friends. (N)

Posted by iclone on Jul-05-2007 14:27:

i'd give him the benefit of the doubt but watch your shit for awhile.

...unless this kind of thing has happened before with him

Posted by Slylee on Jul-05-2007 14:28:

yea i know. if this was just some random party friend or whatever, then i would just move on. but i am really close with this kid and it honestly made my stomach upset by thinking he would do that to me.

i keep replaying the whole day in my head and it's driving me nuts. i DID smoke a little weed with him, so i was kinda stoned, but i am like 100% positive i had another 50 in my wallet. i know i didn't spend it. lol fuck!

seriously, i think you use that term 'best friend' a bit loosely...

a good friend of mine lent me $2000 for one of my cat's surgery [when he got shanked] no questions asked. i payed him back recently [i borrowed it little over a year ago] but i told him im so sorry i took so long to do so. money shouldnt be any issue amongst real friends.

u need a friend-check

Posted by EarnYourKeep on Jul-05-2007 14:31:

let that shit go yo, you'll be stuck in a mind fuck for a minute if you stay stressing it..yea its cash and whatever happened happened right...you can call him on it or you can just keep your mouth tight and check your back every now and then when you with him.

point being, it sucks but you gotta keep it moving and just take a step back and peep him from a far when you around him. Check his status, how he holds himself, observe his moves, not to be shady like you suspect him of doing something but for the fact that you need to see where he's at cuz it sounds like you know where ur at with him...

Awww mom!

Sounds like he's pulled a fast one on you Jamie. Either or that you hurt your head so badly on that Jetski that you can't remember where you left or put your money.

His reaction when you confronted him about the money outside the car pretty much confirmed that he was trying to cover up his guilt by trying to joke about it.

Posted by Slylee on Jul-05-2007 14:38:

i know it just has to do w/ the fact that he is the one person in my life whom i've known the longest, but i guess that's a silly reason to call someone your "best friend". but he's the only person i call that. everyone else is just my "friend". i'm tight with his family and we've gotten in some trouble together, been through a lot of shit together...i've had to bail him out of jail before lol.

but you're right...he's not exactly the type of friend who helps me out when i need someone, but i just love the kid anyway. he's hilarious and even though he doen't necessarily help me with problems or whatever, he's always good for a laugh or a good time. not to mention he's a total guy. so he is the last person i would call up and cry to or gripe to cuz he'd just be like, "uhh, wanna come over and smoke a j?" or "let's go jet skiing, you'll feel better" lol

Turst your instincts, you know him better than any anyone. So if something's out of place, then you'll know

Can I have $50 ?

Posted by Slylee on Jul-05-2007 14:45:

lol

this is gonna take a while to get over for me. this sucks.

the topic of money is probably the most horrible thing that can happen in a relationship/friendship. I guess you know this guy and how shady he is so him taking $50 shouldnt seem like a suprise to you. The thing that bothers you probably is that it happened to you. You might value him as your "best friend" but if he was willing to take $50 from you then you should ask what he thinks of you.

I think you should just let it go because if you don't you'll eventually lose him as a friend, but be cautious around him and you know what to expect from him from now on.

yea, but the fact that i'd have to watch my purse around my "friend" is fucking ridiculous. that's not a friend. and this is something i'll never be able to prove though so that's why it's driving me nuts. oh well, i'll get over it eventually. definitely gonna take a break from him. i've been going to his house like every sunday for bbq's n stuff like that. i guess that needs to stop for a while.

Posted by CranberryJuice on Jul-05-2007 14:57:

im sorry about what happened with "ur friend"

if like u said several people are being suspicious towards this guy already , u should be careful as well

i doubt he'll tell u if he ever took this money from u ...but then how can u trust this guy?

unless in the future u still plan to hang out with him , i think u should re consider your friendship with him
