Paul Kalkbrenner back in Montreal

All I know at this time he has a gig here in Montreal, July 19th @ Ballroom. Just got a sms on my phone right now that it has been confirmed.

Paul Kalkbrenner is from Germany. He grew up on the wrong side of the wall, in East Berlin, during the eighties. He's always been interested by music, but in some way, he's what you could call an autist. He prides himself on letting no influence reach his work. In 1996, he bought his first production equipment, and since 2000, he has been steadily recording for Ellen Allien's BPitch Control label and touring the world.

His tracks are played by countless DJs, including Tiesto (!!), and BPitch recently released a compilation of remixes of his past releases called Reworks, featuring remixes by the Wighnomy Brothers, Agoria, Alexander Kowalski, Ellen Allien & Apparat, Joris Voorn, Michael Mayer, Modeselektor and Sascha Funke. In June, his newest 12", Altes Kamuffel, came out. With a movie project in the works and an hectic touring schedule, Kalkbrenner's appearance in Montreal is not to be missed.

The comparison is from Paul himself.

He told me back in November that he didn't really listen to other people's music, and that he was trying to shield away any influence and remain true to his "inner music". He said : "I'm a musical autist".
