the great global warming swindle

8:30 Thursday on ABC. followed by a debate between the writer of the documentary and lateline's tony jones, in my opinion the best journalist on australian television.

im not promoting junk-science's denial, i'm just not very familiar with the other side's arguments on global warming, so think it's worth a look. mostly i wanna see tony jones destroy the documentary maker afterwards, he rocks my world.

either way, should be interesting for those of you interested in the fate of the planet.

I intend to watch it.

Hopefully I won't get too exasperated and start yelling at the TV. Even when you know that someone's opinions are generally regarded as horse sh1t, it's difficult to not get aggravated.

wow, well didnt the real scientists/journalists shit all over the global warming deniers?? how embarrassing.

Damn I wish I had watched this now. Dad came into my room and told me it was on and just went "meh, it will be a load of dribble anyway". Probably was but I didn't know there would be a debate. I like debates

Posted by Dj_Es-Dva on Jul-13-2007 03:39:

Anyone who missed it, missed a very very funny debate

lol pkc did you watch teh crowds "questions"? not one of them actually asked a question, that stupid retarded who went off on a tangent about methods was an idiot.

And haven't watched it yet (or the documentary itself, for that matter), but here's a lecture responding to the points made in that documentary:

Global warming is just a consequence from the sun's activity only? I honestly believe we are speeding up the process.

*If it was the sun's influence: the stratosphere and troposphere would have heated up extensively but they have actually cooled down recently.

*The sun's power rose during much of the 20th century, but it has actually declined over the past two decades.

*The average rate of change is one degree or so per thousand years (millenium) but in recent times it has been documented that the earth has heated up a few degrees in just a century which is unchartered territory for us.

All we need is a few volcanos to go off. They inject sulfur into the stratosphere which in turn have cooled down the planet as much as 0.5C the following year in previous times. Yeah it varies but they say manually injecting sulfur into the stratosphere could be a possible cure to global warming.

but wtf do i know. just my thoughts

pfft what a dick. if you are going to host a "debate", try to make your cock-sucking of one side and belittlement of the other side slightly less obvious.

oh fuck off philby. ever think that perhaps the reason why the guestlist might have appeared one-sided is because the general consensus among scientists IS one-sided?

the 1 on 1 tony had in england with the writer was awesome. shat all over him and his lies. theres nothing wrong with a reporter "going after" someone who was deliberately misleading people and misrepresenting evidence.

the panel wasnt one sided, tony jones was one-sided by telling one group to fuck themselves and then thlurping the other side. the one sided consensus is that co2 levels have risen. it has not been proven that humans are causing global warming, the ipcc says it is probably true. in the one-on-one tony jones criticised the doco maker by giving using evidence to show his side and ignore the other side. tony jones' suggestion? to use the evidence that supports his side and misrepresents the opponents. yeah he shat all over the lies didnt he.

how dare you mock the god of australian journalism. no, he didnt suggest "to use the evidence that supports his side and misrepresents the opponents" -he suggested using the exact same data set (from the exact same organisation that the maker of the film got his data) and use the most current version of said data. thats just good science.
