'Mile-wide UFO' spotted by British airline pilot

An interesting event, coming from couple British newspapers, including Daily Mail (NOT UFO/alien/conspiracy sites) where several witnesses have reported this. Two different aircraft.

'Mile-wide UFO' spotted by British airline pilot
22.06.07

One of the largest UFOs ever seen has been observed by the crew and passengers of an airliner over the Channel Islands.

An official air-miss report on the incident several weeks ago appears in Pilot magazine.

Aurigny Airlines captain Ray Bowyer, 50, flying close to Alderney first spotted the object, described as "a cigar-shaped brilliant white light".

As the plane got closer the captain viewed it through binoculars and said: "It was a very sharp, thin yellow object with a green area.

"It was 2,000ft up and stationary. I thought it was about 10 miles away, although I later realised it was approximately 40 miles from us. At first, I thought it was the size of a [Boeing] 737.

"But it must have been much bigger because of how far away it was. It could have been as much as a mile wide."

Continuing his approach to Guernsey, Bowyer then spied a "second identical object further to the west".

He said: "It was exactly the same but looked smaller because it was further away. It was closer to Guernsey. I can't explain it. This was clearly visual for about nine minutes.

"I'm certainly not saying that it was something of another world. All I'm saying is that I have never seen anything like it before in all my years of flying."

The sightings were confirmed by passengers Kate and John Russell. John, 74, said: "I saw an orange light. It was like an elongated oval."

The sightings were also confirmed by an unnamed pilot with the Blue Islands airline.

The Civil Aviation Authority safety notice states that a Tri-Lander aircraft flying close to Alderney spotted the object.

"Certain parts of the report have not been published. I cannot say why," said a senior CAA source.

Earlier this year, however, the MOD declared its intentions to open its UFO files to the public.

If airline pilots and passengers saw it, there should be many more pictures and people coming forward with what they saw. I'm sure at least a couple passengers had a camera.

id like to know how a craft a mile wide escaped radar detection.

Its not the same technology, bud. Secondly, thats not the full story - maybe they did catch it on the radar. But then there are hundreds of aircraft in the air for the radar to catch. Also, not ALL passengers saw or were even aware of the distant large bright UFO. Not everyone carries cameras, plus their photos were probably crap and easily dismissable because of a) distance of the object from the plane, b) lack of proper angle/view of it, c) brightness of the object , etc. etc. etc. Anyhow, I am busy at the moment, but I am sure if you were really interested, you'd probably be able to find some more detailed info after a thorough research into this. This is not a UFO debunking thread.

Well, if I was the pilot, I'de get on the intercom, and tell any passengers with cameras to take pictures of the object.

Im surprised they even got one picture...

Ever heard of stealth technology? We have it, and certainly a more advanced civilization with more advanced technology coming to a foreign planet would have it...and an improved version of it at that.

ok, prove to me that this tech exists, thanks! shame they dont have so much super-technology to a) stop from being seen or b) prevent themselves from crashing all the time. these aliens sure are careless!

Posted by Sunsnail on Jul-10-2007 01:36:

prove it doesn't exist.

you'd have to prove to me that little green men exist before i am required to prove their uber-stealth doesnt

what about the copilot?

If we primitive humans have stealth, then an alien civilization that is able to travel the long distances of space to get here would probably have it.

very true. and an alien civilisation that had designed stealth capable of hiding an object a mile in diameter (and using this stealth to remain undetected) also wouldn't get caught by a pilot cruising past.

aliens exist and they are visiting our planet everyday

and you've got the rectal scarring to prove it.

You become an alien after you die, not ghost.

I have a feeling this is thread has the potential to get more posts than one on fucking Israel and Palestine and it's nothing whatsoever to do with politics!

There are 6.something billion people on the planet. Its kinda hard to hide the something-mile wide craft all the time. At least they hide it well enough for it to be only seen once in every while. And 40 miles is quite a distance - amazing how the pilot actually saw it.

And for the fact that aliens can crash - well, not all planets in the universe have the same "handling" i.e. gravity forces and such. I dont expect them to be all pro's - even our best human drivers can get in an accident once every while.

and????? your point is??

I don't believe in "flying saucers" in the sense, but I do like to believe its mankind's own closed primitive mind that gives the illusion that we are alone and special in this big ass universe. But then again, if one believes in a god or that you can receive 72 virgins when you kill innocents in the name of a myth, then I can see how people can believe in flying saucers.
our kind is so young and child like, that I am sure that we appear as a colony of ants compared to any visitors.

Well the Bible says God exists and some people said that it says in the Koran that if you kill innocents you'll get 70 fit birds when you get to heaven (and I can't speak arabic so I have to take their word for it). But no mention of flying saucers so they don't exist (otherwise God would know about it and have told Moses)

Uh, I beg to differ, Ezekiel's assention to heaven is a classic story of UFO type siting. Jesus' return to Heaven, the revelation of john... contains many examples of UFO type activity.....

haha true. I was thinking about the same thing. Not everybody is privileged to see a UFO (atleast I've never seen one )

OOOOOO, 1 hour of aliens!!
