2007.07.20 [LA] Paul van Dyk @ Vanguard

Paul van Dyk ( Vandit, Berlin)

Joaquin Bamaca (Insomniac, GU)

The trance legend comes to Los Angeles in support of his new album, "In Between" for a special Friday night engagement at Vanguard! This event will sell out in advance, so make sure to get your tickets early via the link below!

Insomniac presents a special Friday night event, bringing L.A. one of the biggest names in dance music! The West Coast's Premiere FUNKTION ONE Sound System makes for the funkiest dance floor in town, putting the bass in your face and the beat to your feet. Outside, find Nirvana in Hollywood's Largest Outdoor Patio and Zen Garden complete with a full service bar, multi-level seating and a soundtrack set for grooving under the stars. Upstairs, overlooking the dance floor, the 1-UP Lounge is a new glass enclosed hangout to get hungover in. Or, maybe move to a different groove in the Lower lounge, Vanguard's second dance room. The doors open promptly at 9:30PM and we don't stop 'til 4:00AM! VIP Table Service, with express entry and only a one bottle minimum, is available with your choice of cushy booths adjacent to the dance floor, upstairs in the glass enclosed 1-UP Lounge, or one of the lush cabanas in the outdoor garden.

For reservations, dial 323.463.3331 or email [email protected].

pvd plays better at the vanguard than he does at massives hopefully he has some new stuff in store for us. and i bet he honed his ableton skills too hah.

Free VIP guestlist for PVD: Priceless

For everything else, life takes VISA!

Wow. This is gonna be this sh*t. Heard that his sets are pure fire this summer. And on that sound system... I cannot wait to hear him Ableton mix on the Funktion 1.

Posted by BinaryUnison on Jul-11-2007 09:45:

Ableton mixing is easier than CDJs. PvD should be interesting.

not quite as easy as you think, believe me i've tried it. a lot more stuff to keep track of and a high likelyhood of fuckups especially if the tracks aren't warped right. but the possibilities are endless
hope he gets real creative

It's not about being easier, it's about the capabilities the software offers. I will be interested to hear his Ableton style

Can't wait!!! I am glad I got my tickets a few months ago. They are more than double the price now! YAY!!!!

That's what she said last time! hahahaha... I don't really care for him anymore myself, I just want to go cuz everyone else is going... I want to be cool!

Posted by |Thrax| on Jul-12-2007 02:04:

I AM COOL TRIN!! :-D

This is going to be my first time seeing PVD ever! I've always just skipped everytime he's in L.A. and i'm looking forward to a night of some crazy GDMF Trance music.

Plus it's a special occasion.

Can someone hype this thread please with some stories or vids.
I have high expectations.

Man. I wanted so bad to go to this. Worst weekend ever to fly away out of town, but the bloody airline wants $150 and my firstborn child, in order to change the ticket date!! Grr~!

IN B4 THE HATERS:

Your expectations will be met, exceeded, and redefined, all in one night

If we think he will play well, we will project a comfortable expectation of him playing well, thereby inspiring him to play well.

It will be GLORIOUS

I would if I could but I can't. I've seen PVD quite a few times but that's about it... no hype from me. Maybe this time that I see him, things will be a bit different and I will be

Sometimes! I dunno, but when Abeltons beatmatcher isn't functioning correctly it can take quite a bit of finessing to get it right, and make a nice smooth mix.

hah....that happens most of the time. it takes a lot of adjusting to get it to warp the tracks right especially on more complex trance tracks like the stuff pvd plays.
