Kanye West 'Stronger'. Thoughts?

For all I know, I could be weeks late (and likely am) but I just heard the new Kanye West single and like most of his stuff it didn't really get under my skin *right away*.. But hours later I still found myself humming along in my head. Catchy as f**k. Considering it's basically a bootleg of the classic Daft Punk tune, what are people's thoughts? Is the Louis Vuitton Don back on his 'A' game, or is it a step down from his College Dropout glory?

I loved the original, and personally thought the backbeat and added elements are simply ridiculous.. Curious if others agree on that.

it's dope, Daft Punk being in video obviously approve as well...

point form:
- Beat is SICK
- Lyrics are gay, he should cut those out
- I like the original Daft Punk song more
- Waiting for someone to come out with a Breakbeat remix of it minus said lyrics.
- Those glasses are UBER GAY.

Yep, you are haha.

Good song, but not as great as Kanye's 'Can't Tell Me Nothing' (his previous single).

Proly the most interesting thing about this tune will be the hip hop heads rocking out to a classic EDM tune without even knowing.

"Damn yo that beat is dope.."

Not likey. Hip hop heads aren't idiots, and probably understand better than EDM heads the connection between each form of music.

edit: A classic EDM tune, lol..you know Daft Punk ripped it off from someone else, right? God you people are ignorant.

Wow, way to misread his words. It IS a classic EDM tune, whether Daft Punk sampled it or not. He never said it was original, he said it was classic. Stop trying to act like a smartass. It doesn't suit you.

Don't like at all. This is as bad or worse than Linkin Park+Jay Z

ok nothing was that bad

What Dima said.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jul-12-2007 16:19:

I'm not mad, lol.

I just think it's stupid the way you people put yourselves above other forms of music, as if everyone else with different tastes are the ignorant ones.

Get over yourselves.

oh...really? i'm well aware of that. my point was, the daft punk lyrics go on as kanye is talking, why on earth would anyone layer vocals over vocals? it makes no sense, and the song suffers because of that. it just has way too much going on at once.

Posted by m2j on Jul-12-2007 18:53:

I didn't like the track very much.
the "harder, better, faster, stronger" repeating over and over through out the whole song totally clashed with the rhyming... which - as Cosmic Fur mentioned - are pretty shit.

They should have saved the 'harder, better, etc.' part to be used as a chorus, instead of killing it. And for all of you that are saying "omg, Kanye is a genius, this song is so catchy!" ... It's catchy because of Daft Punk, not Kanye. lol

+1... people i know who seriously produce or are in to (good) hip-hop are more knowledgeable about all types of music over the last 100 years, from jazz to rock to reggae to funk, to 80s pop etc. than anyone else

i'm sure there are still a lot of oblivious hip-hop heads, but there are just as many people that are really into say, today's electro, that have no idea who george clinton is
