Attention Minimal Queen (DCCTNY Princess), Lunasea, or Missbliss

Hows the techno/minimal scene in Munich? All I ever hear about is Berlin, Cologne and Frankfurt.

there's two clubs worth checking out

Harry Klein (http://www.harrykleinclub.de/) really small venue, but a SICK vj setup, usually a pretty nice crowd, and they always bring hot names

Rote Sonne (http://www.rote-sonne.com/index2_08-2006.html) never been here, but im always downloading sick sets from the place haha, and they again bring some nice names

unfortunately, Die Registratur just closed, which was BOMB (rip )

there's also some smaller venues like das prinzip which has electronic nights, check http://www.dancefloorstars.de/muenchen for a complete calendar of all the events all the time around munich

overall, id say they deff bring the djs there, but the "scene" is nothing like frankfurt or berlin.. but theyre just a quick train ride away

munich is much more of a "drinking" city than a "minimal" city haha

ill let miss bliss tell you about our 29 hour adventure in berlin tho

Thanks everyone!

Ulsaker was talking about a trip to Munich for Octoberfest. So I wanted to see if there was anything other than beer tents and leiderhosen (spelling?).

Please refer all questions about clubs, ever and always, to Gavin (TheKidsWantTechno) above

I have no idea about Munich - when I was there I drank Hofbrau and ate various wurst in the Hofbrauhaus for damn near 5 hours on a Sunday afternoon. That's what I REALLY recommend you do when you go there. Oktoberfest is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Haha btw this club called Robert Johnson or whatever (is it Frankfurt, Hamburg, I forget) ... I really wanna check it out just cause of the name...

PS - Go to Berlin and go to Berghain. That is all...

I went to Munich last year, and it's a fantastic place. I went for Oktoberfest for a week and ended up seeing Michael Mayer at Harry Klein one night (fucking great place btw).
Fantastic food, lovely people, great mass transit -- just an awesome city.

Rotte Sonne, Harry Klein, and Prinzip will pretty much give you your fill of great techno/tech-house and minimal. More than you could ever ask for.
Even if you only ever went to Harry Klein you should be more than satisfied. Every week they have an amazing artist: heartthrob, gabriel ananda, dominik eulberg, michael mayer, karotte, sweet n candy, damian lazarus, barem, anja schneider, damian schwartz, alexander kowalski, riccardo villalobos, just to name a few that have been there in the past year.

Lucky for those of us that live statesite, most of the sets there get recorded!

Harry Klein is located at the clubbing district called Kultfabrik (a bunch of clubs all located on one enclosed strip) on the east side of the city by the Ostbahnhof subway stop. It's a pretty small place, so it can be easy to miss. You walk around the corner from the main Kultfabrik entrance and take a left into this courtyard when you see a blue neon sign is. Right next to the club is a GIANT lighted sign that says PORN...lol...so you can't miss that (see it here). I think I used that picture as my avatar for a while.

Prinzip and Rote Sonne are located just north of the center of the City. Rote Sonne is located on Maximiliansplatz (there's also a Pacha here, but that's for that type of music and is VERY difficult to get into). Prinzip is located on Maximilianstrasse (this can be confusing as hell, it's not the same area as Maximiliansplatz). I think the closest subway stop is Karlsplatz (Stachus) or Konigsplatz.
