I'm extremely jealous I won't see Armin untill fall

Posted by jonmitz on Jul-15-2007 11:44:

Posted by kingofthenight on Jul-15-2007 11:50:

I want reviews from TAs that went to Giant. I can't wait for tonight. Hopefully Armin brings his A game to SF!!!

So did Armin close did anybody meet my Chicago friends ?

Posted by Seven_Cities on Jul-15-2007 12:13:

oh what an amazing night...I never thought I'd see Rank 1 on the keyboards live like on the old trance energy videos. just wow.

Armin of course was the best...

and I can't believe that all those people waited in that longass line to ride that speeding deathtrap..I mean Ferris Wheel haha

I can't feel my legs.

I just got home...and of course I am not sleeping until my gallery is up, so it might be a few hours...

Music was great for 20 mins when the Rank 1 boys did their live set but the rest of Armin's set was quite boring unfortunately. I haven't been an Armin fan for a while but even a couple of my Armin fan friends weren't that happy with his set so maybe it wasn't just me....I do have to say though Susana did a pretty good job

Armin opened and closed. He started before 8.

I had an incredible time. First time I've ever seen a crowd-surfing stiltwalker. Rank 1 kicked ass. I thought that keyboard guitar thingy was permanently retired in the '80s.

People were friendly. Well, except for that fight that kinda sorta broke out. Met a neat girl who was from Minnesota (by way of Iowa...I think) who flew out just for the show. That was kinda cool.

Up next: Daft Punk! What a summer in So. Cal.

I'm not really surprised by this Good to hear Rank 1 was good as that would of been my only reason to go to GV as my last Armin LA experience just wasn't worth the trip. Yet I'm still really looking forward and hoping for the best tonight

Same here.

Ferry redeemed himself in my book last time he was out a few weeks ago.

Currently, I'm running on an hour sleep.. I have decided to go tonight... Besides, a friend of mine wants an autograph, and she wont be around for Armin, Tyas or Tiesto..

Lets hope that Armin shines like he always does in SF.

OK! so it wasn't my drunken imagination when I looked up and saw that Ferris Wheel going way too freaking fast.

Worst set I've ever heard from Armin...started out good and then devolved into this monotonous hard house shit, with the beats even going in and out of some classic Trance tracks like 3 Drives on a Vinyl...Chicane's "No Ordinary Morning" to a Hard House beat?...just sounded wrong to me. Wasn't until the drinks wore off that I realized this wasn't DJ Irene! Major bass distortion from the speakers too, visuals were really cheesy and very repetitive (just compare them to Above & Beyond's visuals at EDC, for example).

The bright spot was Rank 1's live appearance halfway through the night with Benno on his "electric guitar keyboard!" (but my camera seems to put in earplugs too when the bass is too loud):

I also agree that the vocalists did a good job. Excellent VIP setup, too, most def worth the money!

The TA meetup at Zencu sushi was great, even though most everyone spent a half hour or more looking for the place (which is in a mall that didn't seem to face the street), so not many of us were together at the same time. Always a good time talking about the best music!

See you there bro! I can't wait!

For now i will just say it was a fucking AWESOME night. Got to meet a couple of TAs at sushi after i spent an hour walking around trying to find the place hehe. Had an awesome time hanging out with Audioholic and his buds during the show. I loved armin's set but i will post more on that later. Im to retardedly tired physically and mentally to do anything but eat and watch tv. I will post vids/pics tonight or tomorrow.

PS - Those acorbat gogo dancers were INSANE!!!!!!

Posted by dollaroff on Jul-15-2007 22:16:

I had a good time cause of the people I met; everyone was having a good time!
Rank 1 was fun...short.

I agree with some of the others, the set itself was boring. However, people were having a good time, so that's all that mattered.

The Stoli "parking garage" was way too hot everytime I checked it out, so I didn't stay at all. How was it?

Daft Punk 6 days!

i thought armin was great, but he played a lot of songs i know so i guess that makes a difference. was susana the one wearing red? i loved her....

Posted by bucke on Jul-16-2007 02:21:

hah! so armin's set sucked! good thing i wasn't there. now i feel better cuz it sounded like i didn't miss out on much. i have high hopes for pvd this friday! hopefully he will tear it up like the last time i saw him.

Posted by vixydish on Jul-16-2007 02:27:

I agree some parts of Armin's set was boring, but with all dj's that spin 8 hrs or more, I figure there's bound to be some parts that I may not particular like. But still, I thoroughly enjoyed the night. Saw soooooo many familiar faces that it made my night. Lots of people looking happy and having a good time for sure. The highlight of the night was definitely Rank 1 and Susana (who sang Shivers), but of course, Armin still did his thing.

Here's a short clip of Shivers that I took before my camera decided to shut down:

Posted by in2muzikk on Jul-16-2007 03:16:

I took one also, maybe between both of them we've got most of her song

Posted by man_ish_in on Jul-16-2007 03:45:

come on guyz!!

give Armin a break......... bloody he was playing for 8hrs..... its not easy to fuckin.... just keep crowd goin for 8 hrs......

I enjoyed set (there was some boring moment) but its all good...last 4 hrs set was mind blowing........ i think...he ripped the fuckin whole place........

peace
