Giant Village Review
So, I started the night working the front main entrance which was actually pretty fun. The crowd coming in was very cool and had no problems. We all got off about 12 or so, and I headed in.
I saw a bunch of familiar faces and met many new ones.
About 1ish I went into the house room and stayed in there for the rest of the night. OFF THE HOOK!!!!! The vibe in there was something I hadn't felt in many years. The music was just SICK, SICK, SICK!!!!
Everyone in there was having such a great time, sweating, dancing and smiling the whole time. WOW! I can't say enough. The energy was insane. During the peak moments they would shoot the crowd with some very cool nitrogen. Ahhhh man did that feel good. I haven't danced that much in a loooong time.
The whole place was just packed. Armin seemed to be doing well...i guess, didn't really listen to that much of him. There were a hell of a lot of people getting on the ferris wheel too. *me scared of heights *
So, now I'm sitting on my porch at home watching the sunrise just soaking in the aftermath. What a night!
A big thanks to Dave and Giant for putting this together...and of course JCizzle!
Good seeing you all.
Goodnight...or good morning rather.
Dude! I don't know how you guys dealt with the heat in that room, Kryo was not helping at all.
It was an amazing night, and I was glad to have met so many wonderful people who came from all over the country. A lot of Giant Virgins got a hell of a surprise cuz they had no idea what the scale of the event was going to be like. I have never heard Armin play before, but I did enjoy some of his stuff, not my sort of thing but I had a blast mingling in the crowd and seeing hundreds of familiar faces and randon people congratulating the event. This group from texas told me to tell Dave Dean to bring Giant Village to Dallas (you never know).
It seemed like a lot of people where down on the Idea of just one dj before the event, but it didn't stop thousands from participating in one of the best vibes ever and I will tell you this much, you doubted and you missed out on one hell of a party.
I had fun promoting in the crowd with my friend Kara, she would flash her GIANT hooters and I would provide a GIANT flyer. LOL She got so tired from doing that she just left her top down. Totally scandalous shit but it worked for our saturday promo.
Now we gear up for Tiesto and Nocturnal Wonderland, weird I know, I never thought we be promoting all ages stuff.
that room was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to hot... the music was sick though!!!!!!!!!!! that guy from 16 bit lolita's threw down one of the best tracklists ive ever heard in my life! so sick!
so got there around 8pm, and went and checked out armin for like an hour or 2. it was cool i guess, but i didnt like the music that much, so i wasnt really dancing. went back into the stoli room and watched the first dj for a little then jason bentley. around 11 when 16 bit lolitas came on, i dindt really know what to expect cuz it was my first time seeing them, but holy fuck, he blew me away, hard pounding driving all night. woo. desyn masiello after him was just so good, it was really an unbelievable night, i think 16bl and then desyn back to back was one of the best shows ive seen. nice to see all you guys there, tyler, ben, jennavive, roman, jc (sorry for getting you wet, hehe), nice meeting jeese. the room was pretty hot but that kryo thing was awesome =).
My night began with trying to find the Zencu Sushi place, I mistook the street address with the lot number, so I spent about an hour once I got to Japan Town looking for the place. I finally found it and Jason V and most of the other people were gone by then. I had a good time meeting and talking to you guys. You all left, so I quickly finished by chicken, which was great, and headed to the venue. I ended up getting there before some of you guys who left before me. Anyways so I got inside and I could already hear Armin working the crowd. So I spent the first couple of hours listening to him. I ran into SweetKandiGirl and Jason V at the event some people I knew from Giant Maximus and a couple people I would always see around Spundae. I don't think I have ever literally swept a girl off her feet Sweet, with only the mention of her name. LOL. and I saw you on stage at the end.
Anyways shortly after that I headed over to the house room which was awesome but was WAY too hot. I couldn't stay there for more than 30 min, although standing in front of the stage and getting blasted with those cold Nitrogen blasts were awesome, especially when they were in sync with the music.
I went back to listen to Armin some more, and the crowd had filled out the stage area.I had never heard him play a marathon set before and I thought he did an excellent job, although I wasn't too keen when he busted out the cue shutter starts. He played some excellent tracks some new and some old, and some of my favorite classics. I spent the rest of the night dancing to his beats and using my Strobe FX, gave about 10 people light shows which was pretty fun. Armin ended his set with PvD- For an Angel just like he did at Giant Maximus, a great classic track. The encore was Iio - Rapture, one of my facorite tracks of all time. All and all a good night, with excellent house and tance music.
It was crazy nite!! lot of shit dint go the way i wanted it to go..... but its all good......
armin!! hmm I guess he was not at his best..... but
he did tear the fcuking place down.....
I had a good time!
I was very pleased with how the night went. I was skeptical with having to put up with 8 hours of armin, but he actually did a very good job. Very well progressed throughout the night...
but it would have been so great to have Rank 1 play for a while longer. It was like 30 min or something. The tunes were awesome for that short period of time...and then done.
SMART WATER!!!
I will never give this company another penny as long as i drink water. These guys were charging $7 for a water WTF. You had no options but SMART WATER.
I know they prob paid a lot to monopolize the water sales, but charging $7 for a water that prob cost them $.15 That is not good marketing. That was just straight taking advantage.
anyway, the crowd was fucking awesome. It was packed, but you could make your way right up front stage and still have room to dance and didnt have drunk fucks running into you all night, one of the best vibes i have felt for a while.
overall had a great fucking time

Even though VIP became way overcrowded later on in the night, it was well worth it to me. The best part was getting there at 8 PM and loading up with no wait at the bar. =P |
Yeah I'm never going to buy another drink (water or alcoholic) at another Giant event. It was just ridiculous.
4 drinks @ $10ea + 4 bottled waters @ $7ea = $68. VIP was $35 extra when tix first went on sale, so I'm ahead $33 then!
VIP FTW!
I suppose it would even be possible to get the water cost down to $0.15 by drinking enough of it, just gotta be careful not to be like that lady who died drinking too much water at that radio station contest!
HAHA what is so funny is that before the event everyone was getting pissed there were other artists with armin and it wasnt purely armin only. Now people are pissed rank 1 didnt play longer. It is rare to see a amazing 6-8 hour set from a single dj. I say 5 is peak for one dj on average.
haha, were the 7 dollar waters and expensive drinks like a surprise to people. i was hoping the water would be cheaper, cuz it was teh same on nye, next tiem im just going to get vip cuz thats cheaper overall, fuck i spent like 60 on water and drinks, haha oh well
Beer was $8 and water was $7, it was a total rip off. I try to avoid Giant and Insomniac events. These people do not know how to organize an event.

I ended up paying $13 for a long island iced tea but it didn't seem to have any coca cola in it... oh well.
I had a great time although the hearing in my right ear is gone because I was next to the line array on the right side but my left ear is almost fine. I actually saw heat waves generated from the subwoofers! That was nuts!!!
Someone was wearing this really cool shirt at the very front of the stage that had the audio bars (green, yellow and red) going up and down to the beat of the music when it was hit by the lights. I don't know if it was a glow in the dark shirt but it was so cool!!! Anyone know where to get those shirts???

| Originally posted by junkproject I think it's more Giant than insomniac. Edc etc, water was 3 bucks. Giant NYE and Gaint Village last year the water was expansive 6 bucks i believe. |

I bought my general admission ticket on wednesday for $55 after fees. I got to Giant and decided to up grade to VIP for another $50. That was the best $50 I spent in a long time. I got in the door in 2min flat (compared to 45min last year, more on that in a sec). I got a gin and tonic right off the bat, two rum and cokes a few minutes later ( i was thirsty okay), followed by a couple more gin and tonics and a couple waters all with minimal waits in line and no more than a tip to the bartenders as payment. Right there I made up the cost of my VIP addition. I walked out into the crowd and went to a non-vip bar and they said a well-gin and tonic was $10, holy crap!! 7 waters later I was ecstatic with having bought the VIP. Unlike last year, they never ran out of water either. The bathroom lines werent crazy insane like last year either which was great. The ticket setup was great once you new where to go. 3 levels deep in the Sheraton isnt the most obvious spot for will-call tickets, but there was 0 lines even at about 8:45. Maybe it was because you had to walk down several flights of stairs to get there.

almost forgot about how at the end, desyn kept on playing music while the fire marshall or whoever he was well telling him to turn it off now with a very serious face, haha. desyn was like ok and kept going for like another 30 seconds, haha, that fire marshall i think he said i am going to make sure you never come back again, hope that doesnt hold though (most probably that guy cant do anything anyways), cuz desyn was so good.
