Footage of Peter Hook (of New Order) faking a mix.

Absolutely hilarious video here. Clearly he uses prerecorded mixes and fakes all the EQn.

He looks like he's having a seizure at some points.

Theres a long thread about this in the dj booth if anyones interested in some serious laughter..

Posted by jon jon on Jul-16-2007 13:26:

haha wow that is so pathetic, it's actually hard for me to watch. (like it's THAT embarassing)

Peter Hook is a disaster, I saw him fall through a drum kit (a la Chris Farley) live on stage at Fabric. It was the most ridiculous thing I think I've ever seen in my life.

He is playing Ultra Supper Club on the 20th of July.

Lets go and accost him.

Posted by jchung52 on Jul-16-2007 14:14:

thats sooo brutal. if i ever saw him live, i would through skasian lightsabres at him. do people not realize what hes doing or are they all too cracked out.. shit you could pay me to bounce around, play with a mixer while rocking to a jonjon mix

Posted by Cosmic Fur on Jul-16-2007 14:47:

Maan, he was twisting the shit out of that one knob there. Poor thing.

WOw...
I don't know what to say...
If I was there I would throw my shoe at him haha.
But I like that remix od Benny Benassi's track- No matter what you would do...

The second video is the best display of him actually doing fuck all, like it actually blows my mind how little he knows about the mixer. Fuck I could stick my grandma in front of it, explain to her low, mid, high in 10 mins and she could do more than he does. He's literally turning up the gain during the treble clashes, over and over again. What a fucking moron.

The first video is the only one that cleary displays two tracks premixed on one cd. Like he doesn't even bother faking it, not even making the motions on the jog wheel or even wearing the headphones!HAHA How pathetic.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHA

ACCOST HIM!

He's not worth the trip.

I guess he figures if big name DJs like Armin can fake EQ and act like they are doing stuff on the mixer, why cant he lol

Thats what I noticed most. Didn't even bother to touch the TTs.

I just hate his stupid jogging-in-place dance. Combined with his excessive use of the Jesus pose, he's painful to watch even if you forget about the total absence of mixing ability.

It's cargo-cultism - he remembers the form but doesn't understand the function. Even I could do a better job faking it than that, though.

Posted by Spike on Jul-17-2007 00:19:

id rather fuck a porcupine and shove a cactus up my ass than watch this guy live

Posted by teufel-man on Jul-17-2007 01:00:

yeah this stuff is hard to watch, i actually feel bad for the guy.... like how does he expect anyone to believe he is mixing when he never uses the headphones.... he just looks like an idiot up there dancing like a goof and pretending to play with the mixer.... how could you go to a performance knowing that the whole time you would just be dancing around to a prerecorded mix in front of a bunch of people? its djing's version of lypsyncing

btw does anyone know what the first track was in the first video, i kinda liked it! hahaha

What annoys me the most is the general lack of integrity.

If you DJ, you're suppose to spin. Not play a premade mix and PRETEND that you're spinning

Pete Hook deserves a throat punch

Posted by Playa24_7 on Jul-17-2007 01:22:

HAHAHAHAHAA!! HILARIOUS! Hey, he may not be spinning, but at least he's a fackin SIK dancer! LOL!!

I agree. He's completely cheating. If dj'n was a sport, he'd be banned for life. Someone needs to ban him from the decks!

is this sort of thing actually fairly common among big name dj's? definitely wouldnt surprise me, especially those big trance djs...

and do these djs even get 'caught'? lol how funny would that be going up to avb and saying "why havent you switched the cd in like 20 mins"? and he would be forced to come up with an excuse.... like what could he possibly say? plus if you were somehow close to the booth it would look prettty weird if only one cdj was playing...for the whole time! i think it would be hard to fake without at least some people noticing, depending on the location of the booth of course
