Its a little over a month away, and I know a LOT of nyta's talked about going up (as usual!!). I go every year to visit my old friends, and to partake in the festivities: the block party, labour day weekend festivities, boat cruises, after parties, and the event at Guvernment itself.

I am gonne keep this thread updated as the lineup is posted (its posted sporadically throughout the next month).

There are TONS of artists at each event, and MANY types of genres (trance, house, techno, jungle, dnb, breaks, etc).

I will keep the updates on the block party as well (pending nat and graham get their behinds back to canada!!) Any plans, rides, hotels, transportation, roll call, etc, can also be talked about here.

always a great party, and def something one ought to check out at least once, if not just to check out an all-access party in one of the best clubs ever!!

if you're going to rent a car in toronto look to fly into buffalo. it is a shitload cheaper than toronto, anywhere from 100-200 cheaper.

If only I had people I knew to go around this time it would work. I'll be skipping it this year

me too. this time i'm flying to Toronto.

to hell with driving lol.

if only the event didnt get so (over)crowded, so unbearable until the last few sets, it makes me wish it was an OUTDOOR event

BUT YES, *always* a great time. if u never been, the EVENT is a MUST-GO, gone 3 out of 4 years since 2003. and especially the VENUE is a MUST-GO. When I think about it, it tugs at my heartstrings it is the ONLY venue in Toronto in which I've gone to party at, and nothing/no one can convince me that the other venues are BETTER (even if they truly are.)

im SURE there will be madd recaps/reminescing of past years in thie thread, in particular *2006* *and* ESPECIALLY *2004*'s NYTA-DCTA meetup

I hope to see NEW djs in the lineup besides Armin & SVD (3rd yr at LOL for him consecutively, SVD will be here again soon) then it will be more worth it.

the BLOCK party is DEF worth going up for in its own right, great place to meet your very neighbourly TOTA's. very well organized last year and I trust it will be just as awesome this year.

great city, great people also. i remember walking around town last yr with the krew, it was f*ckin great

tru tru...its def cuts down on the 8-9 hr drive. Flight/hotel packages shouldn't run too much $. last yr i found packages for $450 for the 3 day weekend

then again those NYC <-> Toronto road trips have DEFINITELY spawned a lot of stories and bonded MANY NYTA friendships/histories, amongst ppl who were formerly strangers. and for that, I would not trade those experiences for ANYTHING.

and to TELL a dj that you traveled 9 hrs to see them, well their eyes just POP right outta their skull, haha. i remember Ferry's did. LOL

but yeah, fly for comfort and convenience

yeah its pretty far for you guys down in VA but so glad we were all able to do it back in 2004

Posted by 1drp4fn on Jul-19-2007 00:23:

Oh Godamn- Armin and Sander!!! Im already there, Ive been dying to see Sander again after Pacha...last year was nutz, cant wait for another

Whats the best form of transportation besides car (did it last year and it was way too long on the way home hungover and what not) Bus or train...?!

Posted by Blake on Jul-19-2007 01:15:

jeez, is it that time already!?

I love road trips, but, coming back to NY from Toronto is a B*tch!, specially when u're the driver.
last year i drove to Toronto early in the morning, got there in the afternoon, went to Guv in the evening, party till about 8:30am next day, drove back to NY, and went to work for an overnight LOL.

Its actually canada and its spelled WITH a U. I am not gonna change the name of an event because its in a different forum.

Blake: hellz yes it is. 5 or 6 weeks away! start planning!

everyone: I am def flying back. As usual (for those who know me enough) I will be at my parents getting some rays in the week prior, then taking a bus across the border, so I only fly one way back. The best transpo I ever had was getting a flight in the evening, because I was able to do afterparties and recover with toronto friends, have enough time to sleep for a couple hours, and take the hour flight back without waiting in the airport on no sleep and wanting to kill myself. lol

1drp: Sander is playing in NYC in september fyi. You should still come to labour

marcin: you are effing crazy!! and overnight!! noway!! I drove back from toronto this winter and was fine (god knows HOW, since I had been awake for 3 days!!) but I would suggest a flight. I totally forgot you were there last year!!! guess I am gonna have to post pics soon!! LOL

LOL is way to commercialized anymore.....I used to go every year back in the day.....was always a sick party but stopped going a few years ago. Too crowded for my liking anymore and names like AVB sure as hell are not going to get me up there especially after his poor reviews in NY. Have fun kids.

I actually agree with you, brian. I really go up every year as a tradition to see friends, hit up the block party (BEST part of the weekend!!), and have a long weekend. I also def spend a lot of time on the skybar enjoying the view and having time to cool off Your comment on armin is parallel with my own opinion, because I see armin 50 times a year and dont really feel an urge to see him again because he is turning fluff on me..... but I must say that I am PUMPED to see sander because he is fakin sickkkkkkk.

But also, dont forget, that labour has acts for a lot of tastes in other rooms (last year they had hernan and digweed in guv as well) plus tents outside with locals, and a different genre in every room. They tend to announce the (trance)headliners first to get the general populations attention. (esp in toronto since they are trance whores)

I would say train since I can't stand riding on buses (one bus trip NYC <--> Orlando when I was 19 totally turned me OFF to bus trips entirely...26 hr ride wtf not to mention the ghettoness of the bus stations and weirdos sitting next to you)

Ive always wondered how long it took to travel to Toronto using either method

Posted by phuzzyfish12 on Jul-19-2007 14:04:

Kelz you know I am so down for this this year. I am trying to figure out how to get there and back. Looks like train or flight. So everyone let me know when you are leaving and maybe a bunch of us can get on the plane or train together.

I am looking forward to Labour since I have never been but I am really excited to see all my TOTA's and go to the block party, just starting to be more my speed. Plus Armin is Armin. I wannna see some new DJ's I feel like NY has had the same 3 recycled over and over and over and over again for the last couple of years. There are other people out there and if they wont come to NY then I guess I have to go to them

Posted by cl005k on Jul-19-2007 14:42:

I'll be going again this year for sure. This will be my 3rd straight appearance. Looking into flights and hotels soon.

Posted by cl005k on Jul-19-2007 14:48:

You can add Blake Jarrell to the lineup.

just trying to find your PLACE was too f*ckin long...but it sure made for some interesting videos and memories

i dont really mean it, just messin' with ya *hugs*

Posted by yankeeBaby on Jul-19-2007 15:15:

^^How the hell does school start on monday?? profs and admins get labour day off??

Lyss: Yeah the train sucks BALLS, not to mention to go up to toronto you have to go clear up to albany, THEN go west towards b-lo (it doesnt cut up sideways).

Just from MY house upstate it take 7 hours or so.

and THEN get the WHOLE train checked at customs, where they question eveyrone on the entire train, and they check random bags.

example: the bus HOME from bal took 6-7 hours, and the train UP took 12 hours. and montreal is way closer than t.o., so expect a train ride to be 15 plus hours.
