Global Underground Series

Every once in awhile, i'm in the mood for these. I only have a few of them, but they're nice mixes (at least, the ones i have). Not really something i can listen to all the time.....kinda have to be in the mood for 'em.

I'm a fan of the Global Underground "Afterhours" spinoff too.

anyone else appreciate these? whats your fav in the GU series? I still think mine is #007 [New York]...but i definitely have not heard all of them (there's like, what 32 of them?)

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Jul-19-2007 03:38:

09 (Sasha San Francisco), 013 (Sasha Ibiza), 014 (Digweed Hong Kong), 24 (Warren Reykjavik), 025 (Deep Dish Toronto), 028 (Warren Shanghai).

Also GU 016 and 22 (Seaman Cape Town and Melbourne).

Sasha's 013, Digweed's 019 and Anthony Pappa's Nubreed 001 (if that spinoff counts as well).

Yeah, I love 001, and like 003 and 006. Haven't heard the others often enough to form a decent opinion.

07 Paul Oakenfold, 09 Sasha, 13 Sasha, 15 Darren Emerson, 24 Nick Warren...

Lot of ppl think 09 > 13 but I still like cd1 of 13 the most, I think to enjoy the digweed ones you have to be in the right mood, cd1 of 24 is timeless

I just got a hold of 001, 002, 003, 005 and 006, but I still have yet to listen to them.
Don't really remember is 004 good or bad, haven't listened to it in a long while.

oh snap , i didn't realize it was on 6 already. what kind of sound are they? more "housey" or "chill" or just a mixture of both? i think thats what i always liked about the GU series is that (at least the ones i liked) always had that background ambience towards them....great background music....but then again would always have that one track or two in the middle that was pretty bangin'

hmm, i think that series was made up to get new talent more exposure, i think that is what it said on the inside sleeve or that is what it seemed like when i read the anthony pappa one. I have the anthony pappa and the danny howells nubreed. The anthony pappa one is more progressive and the danny howells is kind of sort of progressive but housey too i think. really good cds, i doubt they still have that series running though, didnt' the last one come out a while back?

006 came out in 2002. All six are mostly progressive house as far as I know.

i became bored with the ones that i have. it's really not the most exciting stuff.

Posted by Mr Game+Watch on Jul-19-2007 19:41:

My favorites are Ibiza and Reykjavik... some of my favorite mix albums ever, too. Also like San Fran, Hong Kong, and Cape Town. Need to get the Miami ones one of these days...
