Best Show You Ever been to
For me it probably has to be when Tiesto played the venue in Athenas or Gareth Emery's killer set in Indonesia
1. Thai local dj's @ fullmoonparty nov05 kohphangan, thailand
2 ken ishii & j00f on the same night @ espanda kuala lumpur, malaysia
3. dj mayuri @ atmosphere kuala lumpur, malaysia
4. felix the housecat @ sepang f1 circuit, malaysia
5. dj eugene vs dj justin b2b @ tempo events private party
my top 5 in terms of music, atmosphere and overall fun rating.
swedish house mafia @ ink WMC 2007. the vibe and music was just incredible and I'm a die hard trance fan.
Old Miami Afters @ DEMF 2007
For EDM, it's probably Danny Howells on 12/30/06 at Vision in Chicago, the Sasha/Luke Fair show at Glass during WMC 2006, or Lollapalooza 97.
The *best* show I've ever been to though is without a doubt Phish @ Big Cypress NYE 1999.
The Chemical Brothers live on my 18th birthday, followed in at a close second by Nortec Collective, Panoptica and Smash TV doing live PAs at a small, intimate club.
Gah. So many!
Only going to list some big name DJ gigs from last year or so
-Labour of Love 2006: Guv main room: Miss Nine, Luke Fair, Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed. Prog-gasm. Finished the night with 4 hrs of classic Ferry Corsten.
-Markus Schulz @ Armada Night, Kool haus, May 07: Not the typical Schulz trancier set, but full on 'Markus Schulz afterhours prog'. I remember walking away from the Guv muttering 'wow' for 30 mins.
-Andy Moor @ Fluid Lounge, Toronto, May 07: Small party. About 100 ppl purely in it for the love of Moor music. Place goes totally apeshit for 3 hours.
-Steve Lawler@Skybar, the Guvernment, July 07: Another legendary Lawler@Skybar set. Lawler starts at the Guv main room with some dark and dirty prog, but kills Toronto with superstar set on the rooftop of the Guvernment. Quote of the night - Steve Lawler: I'm gonna play one more tune because I'm so fucked!
Honourable mention goes to TOTA BBQ/Block Party, Sept 06.
A yearly tradition in TOTA, coinciding with Labour Day weekend and Labour of Love event.
Last year, TOTA takes over a street in Toronto and full day of drunken shenanigans (in the middle of rainstorm) while TOTA DJs rock it out like superstars.
well, my favorite ones would have to be
-digweed 12 hour set 2003 nye at avalon <-didnt stay the whle time but it was awesome
-howells 6.5 hour set 3/31/07 <-my first time seeing him
-16bit lolitas and desyn masiello last weekend
-sasha and digweed 2006 nye <-met like 20 tranceaddicts that night and had a blast
Area 2 at Jones Beach, 2002 - first time ever seeing Tiesto and Digweed live, Tiesto played an amazing set with all these awesome tunes from the time period thrown in (including Mindcircus!), and then I got Tiesto's autograph, too.
