We're So Lucky & Spoiled To Live In SoCal...

Oh boy! We are so damn lucky. We have big shows this summer week after week. Anyone that bitches about Living in LA should get a reality check. So many other cities wish they had the diversity, the shows, and the whole scene we have in LA. I don't think there's another city in the US that can even come close to having such great talent week after week.

Quick reality check...

THIS MONTH ALONE (JUNE 2007)....

Daft Punk
Sasha
Paul Van Dyk
Luke Fair
Armin Van Buuren
Christopher Lawrence
Deep Dish
Hernan Cattaneo
Desyn Masiello
Cedric Gervais
Rank 1
Kaskade
Sander Van Doorn
Paul Oakenfold
Above & Beyond
Infected Mushroom
J00F

and just missing it by one week

TIESTO IN CONCERT

WE ARE SO DAMN LUCKY!!!!

Agreed. Moved from South Florida a year ago and I thought I was going to miss the Miami EDM scene. Aside from WMC, L.A. gets a lot more action and everything is far better organized. I am psyched to be here and seeing the best DJs in the world, pretty much on a weekly basis.

Ya, but what if they are over the scene and couldn't care less anymore about what DJ's are in town?

Well, this was meant mostly for the music/Dj's scene.

But I know where you're coming from. And SoCal is so diverse, and has a lot of things to and places to go. You have the mountains within an hour's drive, the desert, the beach, many theme parks, many hang outs. There's so much to do in LA. You can practically go out to a different place every week without repeating it for at least year. You just have to look beyond your usual hangouts.

Absolutely! That's what I am going to do, and have been trying to do for a while now! (we already had this convo on Myspace a few weeks ago)

fyi there's not one act on that list that sf didn't also get. we might be slightly luckier in the crowd/vibe department too

True, but it freezing cold up there! I always forget just how cold that moist cool air is ;-) Burrrr..... Granted, I've lived in SoCal my entire life and I have no clue what it would be like to live anywhere else long-term. Maybe I would get adapted quickly?

Posted by DaveT on Jul-19-2007 21:14:

LA = Best lineups overall, no dobt
SF = Best vibe overall, no doubt.

Maybe we should start a scene in Fresno and maybe we can get the scene there to meet somewhere in the middle lol.

New York > LA

Their underground scene is far more advanced.

LA is way too hype driven still.

well then i guess they will just have to deal with our shitty weather, our ugly women, our aweful beaches, our lack of sports entertainment (lakers, dodgers, usc, angels, ucla, kings, Horse racing, ducks, beckham,) and they will be sad to hear that we have a big scene for just about any other type of music genre you are into (80's, punk, emo, jazz, blues, hip hop, etc) we have some of the best kush that can be found anywhere in the world.

so i guess the point is, if your not into edm djs and you live in LA then your screwed!

i'm from austin and it didn't take me long to adapt to sf weather. i used to think it was cold out here, but now i find the night air refreshing. can't get enough of it! it's actually not bad at all for most girls in the downtown area. the tall buildings block most of the wind.

so many misteps in this post, especially the part about the kush

What if the person isn't any of those things either (exept beaches)?

You forgot to include terrible smog, materialistic/superficial and non-family oriented people, and a few other things.

permatraffic it comes with having a 15 million large population center... which is why the la scene can afford to throw obscene amounts of money at any dj looking towards the west coast.

if you cant be entertained or find what you like/are into in socal then you have an issue.

and there are negative things about every city/place in this world, i tend to not focus on those things

I think the property here is so expensive for a reason, everybody wants to be here.

i agree with clovis though, this place is fueled by hype!

Totally agree...

went to this place called the Sullivan Room...

it was in a basement...

fits 400 people capacity...

coo peeps... very into the music!

not a lot of the druggy crowd...

same can be said for sf, nyc, chi, etc, etc... the point is la isn't some extraordinary microcosm of which the rest of the nation should look to enviously. it has it's goods and bads and is like every other metropolitan city in america in that respect.

Posted by djjoshuaallen on Jul-19-2007 22:09:

^^^^ i agree, that is why we are lucky in LA as we are lucky all over this country!

but we still have the best weather and sports!

Posted by Clovis on Jul-19-2007 22:09:

The thing I love most about LA is the food. You can get any kind of food you like, from almost any part of the world, prepared by people from that continent, country, city etc.

Real Thai, Chinese, Sushi, Ramen, French, Italian, Peruvian, Brasilian...the list goes on...not to mention great American food.
