Supermayer save the world

s it a bird? Is it a plane? No, its Michael Mayer and Superpitcher collaborating on a concept album.

Supermayer Save the World promises to rival Tommy in the concept album stakes, with a storyline, heroes, a live show and visuals courtesy of illustrator Kat Menschik included on the CD and gatefold 2xLP sleeves. Musically, the two Kompakt supermen have decided to expand their palette beyond the labels regular electronics, finding room for trumpets, saxophones, acoustic guitars, flutes and even a gong. The twelve-track album also promises to stray away from the labels signature techno thump, containing forays into kooky indie pop (The Art of Letting Go, Us and Them) and lounge experiments (Cocktails For You) amidst ambient interludes. Will keep you grinning from ear to ear beginning to end, says the press notes. Take that, Lex Luthor!

Tracklist

1 Hey!
2 The Art Of Letting Go
3 Saturndays
4 Superbrain Transmission
5 Us And Them
6 For Luzie
7 The Lonesome King
8 Dont Let the Sun Catch You Crying
9 Please Sunshine
10 Planet Of The Sick
11 Psychoprogs Attack!
12 Two Of Us
13 Cocktails For Two

Supermayer Save The World arrives on Kompakt on September 17th, 2007.

am I the only one who has a problem with the subject/verb agreement (or lack thereof) in the title?

Supermayer is a duo, so I'm guessing it's treated as a plural subject.

Should be good.

I'm hoping this will be good but much like a lot of this type of music I fear i will be sorely disappointed.

Their remix of doppelwhipper was actually quite embarrasing for producers of such talent.

I saw Michael Mayer live some weeks ago. I started talking German ("ich habe ein demo cd fr dich"), he stopped me and just said: "je parle franais".

/the end.

Wow, two guys that have put out the best material during the past couple of years IMO.

Just got my hands on the album, and its a definite pleaser!

It's important to listen to this album with an open mind because they are experimenting with lots of different sounds, and styles. If you liked the remix of 'Like You' and expect to see a lot of that on the CD... don't.

Its definitely unique. Give it 8.5 bones outta 10.
