Hotels for SF Love Fest!!!
Hey all,
I'm planning on coming out to the SF Love Fest this year. Anyone know from experience what hotels are close to the Bill Graham Civic Center and at reasonable rates? I'd like to book my room as soon as I can
.
Cheers!!

I stayed at Ramada off Market Street for the past 2 LoveFest. It's like a 2 minute walk to the Bill Graham Audiotrium (which also is where the Parade ends up at).
Last 2 times I went there I stayed at The Mosser. It's within walking distance, and rates are fairly cheap (though the rooms are small, they're quite nice). Also for some strange reason I think they have a recording studio in that hotel.
Yeah there's a lot going on that weekend other than LoveFest in SF
however I would hop on these quick, research them if you want to
but these 3 are under 150 a night
The Herbert Hotel - 161 Powell St
Monarch Hotel - 1015 Geary Street
^ these 2 up above are pretty much in the heart of downtown
The Opal - 1050 Van Ness Ave
^ this is on the border of downtown but right down the street from the festival site
I recommend these 3 basically for a number of things - availability, location (there are plenty of stores and restaurants to walk to) and in relation to those reasons, price. You won't really find anything better at that price in those locations.
Anything else you'd be paying more and if you want a cheaper one - for a decent place you'll have to be either on Lombard, somewhat sketchy border of Soma or the Wharf
me and a few TA's are staying at the Opal ..pretty close to everything
just a quick check of themosser.com shows their cheapest rooms to be between 89-99. only problem is it's a shared bathroom (a few bathrooms for each wing) but if you don't mind that it's cheap and nice.
cool beenz!
Anyone stay at the Herbert Hotel? I'm reading mixed reviews which are in the extremes... the pics look nice though!

I have stayed a Niko the last couple of years and will be there again this year-nice hotel and really close to the parade and Bill Graham...189 a night+40 parking+20 taxes..about 245-270 a night with everything, but not too bad to split between 2 people..
good luck
for you out of towners there's a huge nationwide Dental Convention happening over the same weekend at Moscone (same place that hosts Macworld) - so all the dentists and their families are taking a lot of the rooms in the area too
Opal ftw!
Wow - rates are already jacked.
So who wants to rent me a room?

| Originally posted by idoru Wrong move, Rob. Two years ago was our first trip to SF for the party, and we booked so late that we ended up getting a hotel in Oakland. Sure, the BART provides rides into and out of the city, but considering all of the walking you're going to do (the parade route, the eight hours of dancing after the parade ends, the Friday night Burridge party, and the various afterparties on that Saturday) it's murder on your feet. Each year we've gone back to the hotel in the middle of the day to rest up a bit. The first year took four hours out of our day, caused us to be late to the afterparty, ultimately resulting in us not getting in because the lines were fucked. Last year was fine, because we booked the Hilton right in the middle of downtown (which is already full for this year). Also, depending on what afterparty you attend and what time it may end, BART service doesn't run at certain hours of the morning, which would result in you being stranded in the city, unless you either A.) Fork over cash for a taxi or B.) Rent a car. COR Version: Don't fucking stay outside of SF. ![]() I'll still be there this year, the Mariott near the start of the parade is still available for rooms. Just an FYI, your most favorite person on TA will also be tagging along. |

anyone know how long the dirve from the SF airport to the Parade/civic center is???
the hotel rates are 3 times less by the air port(300-400$ vs 100$and free parking), Mapquest says 15 min drive???anyone think it would be stupid staying by the airport then driving back and forth to the parade?? I only hope its not a 50$ cab ride each way??!!
