Well, Becks wasn't 100% fit.

Went to the game. It definitely was a good experience to see all the Chelsea boys up close. I had really great tickets too and was within spitting distance of Lampard, etc. First time ever going to an MLS game and I was suprised to see how lively some of the fans were. Becks was obviously still injured (his ankle) as I could see him gimping around. He had a couple of nice long passes, his specialty of course. Everytime he took off his warmups or ran on the sidelines, people went crazy. It was kind of annoying to be honest. Then, when he came in, Posh was shown on the big screen imploring her kids to get up and clap for their daddy. Another annoyance.

However, I was very happy to see some passion for futbol from all the Americans. I think this really has a chance to help the sport here in the U.S. which is greatly needed. It is definitely on the upswing, it isn't just talk anymore. Becks had a TON of coverage. I got my jersey...sorry had to buy into the commercialism and spectacle.

were the americans getting passionate about the football or cause beckham was there? theres a difference and im guessing cause of beckham americans couldnt give a toss about football its not their sport so why are people trying to force them to like it?
posh is a freak show i cannot stand her why is someone like beckham with a dog like her? she walks round like shes the queen or something shes a barbie doll la galaxy only got beckham to rake in the money not other purpose.

Until he puts up results I'm approaching this with skepticism. Though he's been great of late I still think his marketability far outweighs his skill.

And just like LA to turn a football game into one big fashion/celebrity show - disgusting. Half the game was wasted on scouting "them" in the stands. We got every insignificant voice in Hollywood to say something about it. Jennifer Love Hewitt was the last straw - "Umm it's like really exciting to see him (Beckham) bring this excitement here... And everybody is just excited." Drew Carey made sure to shamelessly plug everything he's involved in. And then of course the governator - "Ven Ai vaz aa chaild Ai keeked ze bawl soo haard eet bluu aap laike aa graanaide een wun ov mai mooveez."

I think once the public realizes that one pretty boy with a special right foot is not going to turn around a less-skilled/funded/slower football league it will be the end of this whole fad. The fact is that investors of the ~$250 million of the Beckham deal should have put that money to better use by re-vamping the training system here in the United States.

The fault of the whole program is that in Europe clubs develop players throughout their careers - looking for long term commitment and goals. In the US it's all about the here and the now. If you can't deliver in High School, your coach at that level won't care what you can accomplish if he trains you properly and lets you have the time to develop and learn. Same thing at a collegiate level. Then there's the ODP (Olympic Developement Program). What a joke! The fact that the only players truly scouted are only in 5 states and all other ODP programs are self-governed and rarely get visited by top scouts. All it has become is a bragging right for little boys across the nation "Ohh yeah! Well I'm in ODP are you?!? That's what I thought bitch."

But here's the biggest problem. "Soccer" players in US do not have any balls. Characteristically they are all the biggest vaginas in the world. And the players that do have balls to play the game and train right were 1. Not born here and learned to play somewhere else, or 2. Spent an extensive amount of time in other, better football oriented countries to learn the game proper... or both. There's just something missing from the whole process and those of us that learned the game in other countries can sense that something but can't exactly put our finger on what it is. Maybe it's exactly what Beckham's bringing - the game is not supposed to be about a bunch of pretty boys with great hair and lean bodies that fuck an amazing amount of hot women and prance from nightclub to nightclub - that is the American view and guaranteed little boys all over the country think that's what that shit is about. 22 men with balls of steel battling it out on the pitch and two tacticians scheeming from the sidelines is definitely something to behold and something that you'll never see in this country unless the teams belong to other places.

...I just hope Dennis Bergkamp comes to play for DC United a couple of years.

Blanco > Beckham > Tom Brady.

Blanco will put on a better performance than Beckham in the MLS. Beckham will play sloppy for about 4 weeks and then fake an injury to invest more time in training Angelina Jolies adopted son.

Also, the MLS should lower the prices for these games. Its not as if the players are superstars, plus, being honest, most players in the league play horribly. I suggest charging about 50 cents per match, and thats for a good seat close to the pitch.

Good luck to Becks in the planning of his future injury.

BRADY > all

It is rather sickening to think all those BONEHEADS in LA were giddy over just Beckham, when they had the BEST TEAM in the world in town.... friggen retards... I just hope they play in O-TOWN next year rather than LA!!! or come back to foxboro, i'll take either!

Glad I waited till the end before getting tickets. Didnt want to pay the 200$+ that some people were charging on craigslist and once news got out that beckham isnt playing it was funny how the prices spiraled downwards ... lol some people had even posted ads saying beckham is not playing so im willing to take those tickets of your hands for $50 ... we ended up getting seats behind the corner flag and we also paid below face value

Game was very boring which wasnt much of a surprise .. the players seemed more intent on playing casually and getting fit for the new season without risking injuries but there were a few bright moments from chelsea ... the crowd was very dull for the most part until Beckham moved around and the only cheer came when beckham came on .. still it was good to finally experience a football match
