Woody I saw you man. I was the one that was waving you down from up top in the seats. I could have swore that that was Miss Julia who I had flag you down. I can not beleive what I witnessed tonight. They had better make a DVD now. Sabastian, Kavinsky, and Ratatat were dope. I spent $175 on mechendise. Shirts, posters, stickers, everything. My camera was shitty so I am hoping that people took some good pictures and videos.

What an awesome show. Good to run into you even for just a second Woody! I am still in awe... such a great night!!

YES!!! The floor was full, so were the lodge and concourse levels. I'm glad I didn't go on the floor because it was WAY too packed down there. I was on the lodge (2nd level). Perfect view, everyone was standing up and dancing infront of their seat, which was comfortable by me because there were no idiots walking around, bumping, pushing and shoving into you.

Like I mentioned before, Daft Punk is seriously something else. They don't even need a review. Can't wait to see the video's Curly took.

It was so grand!
I thought there was going to be a riot of happiness
:0 @ encore

Posted by DjWoody on Jul-22-2007 17:52:

I just woke up and added the original hi-res videos. I'll encode them to Windows Media later on today and I'll put them on YouTube too. AMAZING!!!

I think one of my favorite highlights that came as a complete surprise was their encore mashup of MUSIC SOUNDS BETTER WITH YOU with AROUND THE WORLD... WOW!!! That was unexpected.

Wow. Once again, Daft Punk pisses on every show that came in between their Coachella set and last night.
I will admit though, Coachella was more exciting only because it was their first time playing in a while, and I had no idea that they would come out full force with their lights and stage. The crowd vibe was way more intense at Coachella as well.
BUT, that light ring around the stadium was awesome, and their encore...holy shit, that was cool, in their red Tron outfits. They didn't look real when they came out for their encore. Absolutley fucking mindlblowing.
For those of you who saw them, I'm sure you had a good time. For thosee that are going to see them, I'm sure you will as well.
HHHHHUUUUUUUMMMMMMAAAANNNNNNNN......Daft Punk FTMFW!!!

Posted by DjWoody on Jul-22-2007 19:55:

So did anyone get the set yet? I know it got recorded cause I saw them recording it. They even put microphones in the crowd!

am I the only one that was slightly disappointed?

a lot of things bugged me, and i wish I can get into them right now but i have to go to work

i wish people didn't gamble on Sundays so i wouldn't have to work today

LA Times article about Daft Punk:

LATIMES:

Daft Punk's powerful arena rave
By Steve Appleford, Special to the Times
July 23, 2007

Daft Punk is not an act restricted by lowered expectations. If the long-anticipated tidal wave of dance-music popularity crashed with the new millennium, focusing less on massive raves than intimate club shows, the French duo's sold-out concert at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena on Saturday was a startling show of force.

Standing atop a giant pyramid, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo performed 90 minutes of thunderous beats, electro-riffs and effects in a set that included such excited signature songs as "Da Funk" and "Aerodynamic."

The first 30 minutes were restless and relentless later the duo only occasionally slipped into monochromatic beats. They began with "Robot Rock," soon followed by "Technologic," as key "lyrics" from the song flashed on the big screen behind them: "touch," "bring," "pay," "start," "watch" etc.

Daft Punk entered to the interplanetary greeting from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." It was a sound rooted in '70s sci-fi, much like the duo's "robot" motorcycle helmets, shiny headgear that could have been lifted from "Battlestar Galactica" or "Star Wars." The helmets leveled the concert experience for fans. Whether they were up in the rafters or up close, there wasn't much of a difference. The real physical energy was expressed by the crowd.

Before the headliners were even onstage, the crowd was already approaching full boil during a stirring preamble from support act Sebastian & Kavinsky, another pair of French DJs. But this wasn't '90s dance culture reborn. Glow sticks and costumes were in short supply on Saturday. Daft Punk aimed higher than that, delivering its beats and riffs dramatically into the present.

OMFG Curly, sickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk video's! Our view the entire night, so sick. I just watched all your video's. This one was probably my tune of the night. "Who's an angel" or something like that. I've never heard it before.

I was seriously blown away.

I got there pretty early and had a lot of time to kill but those last 90 minutes were worth it. My highlights were Around the World and Prime Time of Your Life, and the Tron suits of course.

How hot must it be under those helmets?

they have very good ventilation in them. the company that they contracted to make them had to make sure of this. too much heat would cause them to sweat too much and it would just cause irritation and what not. you can purchase their helmets if you wanted. they are a cool 85k each.
