At The Controls: mixed by Claude von Stroke

quote:

Dirtybird Claude VonStroke mixes the latest volume in the 'At the Controls' series.

Previous volumes of At the Controls by M.A.N.D.Y. and James Holden were highly rated and so there are big shoes to fill. VonStrokes 2CD effort includes thirty-one tracks from producers across the globe, ranging from hot Berliners (Samim, Catz & Dogz, Lee Curtiss) and U.S. veterans (Kenneth Graham, Shawn Rudiman) to British up-and-comers (Simon Baker, Gilles Smith, Dan Berkson). There are also fresh cuts from Dirtybird and Mothership signees Riva Starr and Italoboyz, as well as a new VonStroke in partnership with Christian Martin.

I really don't know about this one. Heater will be interesting though, even if it seems more like a track to play live and have fun with than to put on a compilation for home/car listening.

I still like Heater, kind of. Hehoooooo

2nd disc looks OK, but in general the tracklist itself does nothing for me.

Also, I just don't know about the "At the Controls" series - it seems like it's a good idea that's been done pretty poorly so far. Admittedly, I like the first disc of Holden's a fair bit, but it lost it's luster fast - and the M.A.N.D.Y. release was wretched.

Hopefully CvS will knock one out of the park.

Pitiful. Just pitiful. Even the stuff I thought would be interesting.

I figured as much. His set last week (he replaced Alex Under who had to cancel, unfortunately) lacked any and all direction. That night was the first time in over a year that I have left a club early.

Bahaha

x 2

What the fuck is Don't Feed The Cat doing alongside that piece of shit known as Heater?

CvS wasn't great when I saw him play, though I'd see him again.

I find a lot of his production is a bit novelty with massive shelf life. I liked The Whistler for about two weeks then I was over it. Who's Afraid Of Detroit is still ok, but I'm getting sick of it fast.

All i have to say is that i expected more, much more from Claude.

But as a producer, i'll support him in the future too, all the way.

Go Dirtybird!

I don't know. Alex Under was slated to do a live set and not DJ, but he canceled his whole North American tour because of an illness. CvS replaced him that night.
