Venue suggestions for big events

Hello all,

I am looking for some suggestions on different venues which would be suitable to host a large edm event....
Lets remove all of the usual suspects from the equation: Guv complex, docks, dragonfly, footwork, zone.

Obviously need it to be in a location people would travel to, decent sound system, and ideally have some decent dates available.

Any preferences?

How big?

Take EDM to ACC, Roger's Centre, BMO or Downsview.

DO IT.

If you're talking about a weekend.... there is no space that matches that description that already has a soundsystem, let alone a decent sound system. Only places I can think of charge a rental fee if you don't know them, and you will need to spend between 300-2500 on sound to bring it up to par.

as well, most larger event spaces freak when you say late night, DJ and Dance music. they think "Rave" and want nothing to do with it.

Hypothetical:

Say one wanted to throw an open air concert at BMO Field. For some reason I feel like that would fly, since soccer fans typically have been exposed to EDM and therefore the management would not automatically conclude that it will be a rave.

Yay or nay?

Yup...unfortunately it is

I use to go by there all the time! Never knew they had events there!

In all seriousness,

Sean, if it's what I'm thinking, then why not have it at Fluid? That place worked well for Andy Moor, despite the lack of attendees. But I'm guessing whatever you're planning will not be on a Sunday...

...Wonderland? haha

worked for Z103!

large venues with decent systems are already in use, and you have listed where you don;t want it
venues without sound systems usually mean , no bars , security , etc etc by the time you rent the system 3-5000 is realistic for a full production plus lighting, pay the pay duties (yes you have to have them according to the city regarding edm events) payed a security company and so on you are gonna run out of money, the days of renting places like the better living center (20k to pull of an event there) are long gone and unless you use the large clubs the prodcution costs will kill you
good luck

Hey Russell why not have it out on the island?

How about Rio (Viva)? you cant go wrong with the new sound system there,it honestly puts Guv's system to shame

Posted by Clublifexx on Jul-25-2007 02:18:

Lol, I only wrote zone and footwork as an exclusion knowing some people would drop those in, not saying they can host mass crowds.

Thanks for any help, I have already been in contact with a few of the places spoken of, and am aware of all of the costs should I try to warehouse it.

I will be the first to give details if any progress is made.
