Tiesto @ Cowboys SATX Review
I had nothing better planned on a Monday night so I decided to go to this show. Lets start off by saying Cowboys...never again (unless its like Marco V, AvB, of PvD). They really dropped the ball at the venue there. I was in line for an hour and a half, which wouldn't be a problem if everything was going smoothly and fairly, but it wasn't. It just so happened that people were buying their tickets at the door cash and getting in instantly while everyone with presale tickets got shafted and had to stand in line outside in the rain with 3 million crickets while the other people got to see the opening acts and what not. The sound system was not what I expected and was very lacking for what the superstar Tiesto supposedly seems to be requiring. The screens were definitely unnecessary and to my untrained ear his mixing was par at best. I heard a few trainwrecks but nothing too noticeable. The crowd was into it and everything but perhaps being oversold and with all the candy kids and ravers, made it unbearable at times, but I managed. Overall I would say that it was a ONCE in a lifetime experience for Tiesto, but I'll stick to the shows at Sky and hopefully Dolce doesn't let me down with the Filo & Peri show coming up.
Short version: Tiesto was "ok" at best, Cowboys sucks.
Just as I expected. Thanks BoReD.
Word. Fuck that shit. We just got drunk at the Saucer. Dolce this thursday FTW
I'm sorry to hear you were unhappy with the Tiesto show at Cowboys. I must say that i had an awesome time! While I will agree with you that the line to get in the venue was frustrating (because it was so long), I do believe Cowboys did their best to try to speed up the entry process. They did recognize the waiting line fiasco, and proceeded to open an additional entry way. You cannot expect them to get 2000 people in the front doors in a matter of minutes. There are procedures and precautions (such as checking ID's) that is required by law when hosting an event such as Tiesto. I'm not sure about everyone else on this forum, however, most shows I have been to have waiting lines, and with a venue as large as Cowboys, it is to be expected. If you were so concerned about seeing the opening sets, you should have been better prepared and gotten to the show sooner. I think it is unreasonable to expect Cowboys to cater to you because you feel like you shouldn't have to wait in line like everyone else... oh, and Cowboys cannot control the weather. If you did not want to wait in the rain then go home.
As for the screens, I am unsure why you felt they were unnecessary. They are there to be visually stimulating. I would be disappointed if there were NOT screens on a stage with Tiesto on it. It sounds to me like you had nothing better to do than to show up and to complain. I highly doubt you would have been satisfied regardless of the evenings events. Tiesto was great (much better than last yrs show). I did hear the speakers glitch a time or two, but it was so minor you really didn't notice. No show ever goes 100% perfect, and i think it is ridiculous to expect it to. Yes, candy kids were present, but guess what GET OVER IT! If you don't like them, then you need to start listening to some reggetone.
I go to these shows to have fun and have a great time dancing and listening to the music. I would suggest lightening up and have a better attitude. You will always have a bad time if you go into a situation negatively.
Kudos to the party producers! It was wonderful and I cannot wait until next year!

I hope Tiesto up here at the Palladium will go well. I have never been to this venue, but apparently it holds big concerts like this often. So I'm hoping they are used to this, got the organization, sound systems, and everything else down.
I cannot wait!

Wow, was that a violent show or what?? Haha. For anyone in the crowd, they would understand what I mean. I thought the security did a horrible job there. From letting people who didn't pay for tickets go in first to not getting rid of the crowdsurfing problem. I mean crowdsurfing at a dance show, wtf?!? But after a while, when the crowd got more sparse, it turned into a much better show.
Onto Tiesto. I thought he played a great set. I only heard one glitch that sounded like he went into the next song to early but other then that, not really any trainwrecks. Plus from a 20+ song set and to only play 4 or 5 of his own songs I believe said alot about his set. I was hoping for Southern Sun but he played a bunch of new songs rather then Traffic and Love Comes Again for the 100th time. He really controlled the crowd that night IMO.
Would I go see Tiesto again? Yup. At Cowboys? That is a big maybe.
Btw, did anyone catch the tracklist for the show?? My memory is pretty bad.
ametuer clubber I am not. I will assume that your guess is from my lack of participation on this forum.
Tiesto is an entertainer and with someone as high up on the edm scale, you are expected to put on a damn good performance with all the bells and whistles.
There are always peeps who do not wish to dance. There are always the annoying, inconsiderate people who think its okay to sit on someones shoulders and block the view for everyone behind them. I see the big screens as a way to help entertain several types of party goers.
Everyone enjoys different elements of a performance. I myself enjoy the screens since i am to short to see much of anything else. If i wanted nothing more than the music alone, I can stay home and listen to a CD in a closet. When going to a club performance, i expect a lot more than sitting in the dark.
Yeah man because Tiesto puts on a 'concert'. With his huge knowledge of not playing any instruments and buying tracks from people so he can release them under his own name.
If there aren't any screens I'm just going to go home! Cheap bastards...

We were part of the bought-ticket-and-had-to-wait group. That was total bullsh*t. And actually, two of us had tickets that were will-call, and when we finally got to the front of the line, they couldn't find our tickets! Not to mention they didn't notice they were VIP so we had to GO BACK and tell them. I also have to agree that Cowboys is nice in design but the staff and organization were extremely subpar. Most of the security people acted like assholes and no one seemed to be completely in reality and knew what was going on. Could've staffed the thing with f*ckin' candy kids and would probably have been better.
Little off-topic here, but does anyone have links to pictures of this show?
Also there was a guy from some site walking around taking pictures of people and telling them what the URL was, but .. we all forgot. Did anyone else encounter this dude and remember the site?
If the site was http://teknosounds.com, then it was Nick
How many times have i heard the same song sang by those who see Tiesto...but...when i saw him @ Cowboys in 04 with that fashion show It was "OK" he was Still a Dick tho..but how was i supposed to know he didnt like taking pics ( eh..old grudge)..but if you havent seen Tiesto i would go see him Just for the record ..drop a few pills with a few good friends and stay out of the crowed..maybe somewhere in the VIP where i now usually find myself in ( its just more relaxing, cept for when in Sky some times
) but other than that...ill go ahead and say it ones again.....Tiesto is played out.
My lil sister send me a text about having tix to Tiesto...& i didnt send a quick response back because...yeah, i wasnt impressed. If she would have told me she has tix to Marcus Shulz i would have been like

just put it like this. This years show was waaaay better than last year and the 04 show of the same old tiesto tracks being banged out like the "best-of" Tiesto tribute. The opening dj's blew donkey balls, they played 'The Anthem' twice within 30 minutes of eachother. Stupid phukin opening newbies! Got to walk right in (its who you know, not what you know) so I cant complain about waiting in some line like some of you posers that just show up once in a blue moon for a party and dont support the scence like we (I) do. But nevertheless the show was much better then his previous two stops to Cowboys, but not as impressive as his show at the AMH last Labor Day weekend!! And what is the hating on candykids? At least they arent freaking scenesters/julios that just take up space and are there just to be scene. Phukin posers were there and the majority of them were upstairs in VIP, granted I was up there too but that was for other reasons not to be known by you people.

Tiesto may have played better this time around, but Kai (last year's opener) threw down better than any of the ass-clowns this year could ever hope to.
