Why is Everyone So Bitter Here?

I'm new to producing trance, so I've been just randomly reading threads about production issues before I get started. How come the people on this forum seem to have a tendency to flame those who have novice issues? Granted, sarcastic comments are funny every now and then, but with the extent they are being used it's borderline offensive. I mean you have to start somewhere and where as others do their own research others may prefer to ask questions. I just think it'd be more conducive if we all didn't create this condescending oh-i'm-pro atmosphere. If it's a stupid question, don't answer it. Just my ideas.

Could be because of 6 reasons..

1) They see the same stupid questions everyday (99.9% of noob questions are answered in the tutorial master list)
2) It took them a long time to get where they are, know what they know, and no one was there to help them out so they feel helping others is a crime against them selves.
3) Theyre afraid of competition (for what ever reason).
4) They were treated like shit when they first started so they feel its only fare to follow the tradition.
5) They are frustrated do to their failure in trying to become a decent producer. So they take it on others..
6) They truly enjoy making fun of others..

In any case I dont see a point in being rude as well..if you dont like what you see, simply dont post in that thread. (theyll get the point if no one posts in their thread)

bah don't pay that much attention to whatever seems negative to you. We're here to help each other after all ;-)

Have you seen the google ads at the top of the page for the Vocal Remover?

Posted by cl0ckw3rk on Jul-25-2007 21:12:

seriously folks...if its a noob question that has been answered several times, just DONT REPLY TO THE POST. They'll think to look around more if they see they have no responses

i am a newbie too

Posted by Zombie0729 on Jul-25-2007 22:14:

most of the questions here are found in manuals... the fact that people would rather ask 'how do i do a mashup in ableton' is a joke.

Posted by ralpheeee on Jul-25-2007 22:54:

I think it's coz a lot of people here would like to pretend they are "pros" when in fact they are pimply faced pubescent little kids with one hand on their knob at all times. They think by rubbishing people it makes them look 133t.

Posted by ralpheeee on Jul-25-2007 23:08:

I'd also like to add that I believe that this is the reason that this forum seems to be slowing down. It used to be a fairly busy little place, where people could ask questions without the fear of being ridiculed. I think that your attitude towards "noobs" is actualy killing this site. If you realy are tranceaddicts you should embrace newbies and help em out a bit. Who knows, they may turn out to be the next SVD or PVD. Or just keep on giving all the noobs shit, they will leave, and you can all hang out with your "pro" producer friends. Yes there are tutorials, but if you have a look at em, the list hasnt realy changed at all in the last 3 yrs. That is a sign of a stagnant self consuming community.
If you wanna see how a production community should realy look, go check out dogsonacid.com "the grid". Now I dont even like drum and bass (much) but i think that i may have learnt more from that site than here, simply coz they dont flame noobs (much) and they dont mind answering questions.
BTW are there any other trance related production forums that i should be aware of, coz i have a feeling that alot of people who used to post here have jumped ship.

Not everyone here is bitter, of course. Most of us aren't. The ones here that are bitter just stand out more, because they make a lot of noise. Why are they mean and bitter? Like already said here, maybe they are frustrated that they are not as successful as they'd like to be, so they take their frustrations out on anyone they can. Noobs are an easy target. This kind of behavior always comes from the fact that they feel inadequate or insecure in some way, you can bet on it. Perhaps also some of them are just mean and nasty by nature, bad apples to the core. The internet seems to be full of that kind.

Musicians related forums, in general, tend to attract a bad element. This one is actually pretty friendly and helpfull compared to some of the guitar forums I used to visit. Enjoy it Just ingore any of the negativity here. There is an ignore user feature here, so if you find someone that never has anything productive to say, use it.

I think trance.nu has a production forum, but it never hooked me. Never seemed as technical.

The internet is where you're 6'8", have a $250k salary, and you drive a Bimmer, not the '86 Toyota Tercel sitting in your assigned parking spot. But, really... seems a lot of people use it is a front to feel big. Other times a tounge-in-cheek comment can be taken as hostile, since you can't convey emotion as easily. Just my 2 cents on that.

I made a rather cruel comment recently that I re-replied to with something constructive, but I was cranky last night, got stood up. Biotch.

You have a valid point here. I noticed it quite a bit. You really just got to put up with other people's bullshit because there's always someone out there to ruin the party. It's just human nature I guess.

My bigger problem lies with people who read posts and don't respond! It's a pain in the ass, when you post a question and you have no responses, but like 470 different readers! Come on people take advantage of your freedom of speech, but keep it legit and appropriate.

Some of us like myself are genuinely bad people who like hurting others for amusement. You can't apologize for being who you are.

Posted by daeus on Jul-26-2007 22:15:

Im not bitter :P

Seriously you'll find a mix of people on here, people who will help anytime with amazing detailed answers such as Diginut then people the total opposite of that such as dj mikey mike.

exactly...I hope I am about in the middle...and btw...it can just be the mood...sometimes you will see a stupid question and react so that you'll post a very legit post with amazing amount of information, while seeing the same question the different day you'll be highly annoyed and reply apropriately...

it all depends...and I'm sure not everyone is so bitter here...

I think this forum has slowed down because Trance isn't as popular as it used to be. D&B is probably the in thing right now, well, more so than trance. So that is probably why they have a lot of activity at dogsonacid.com. You could be partly right though, about the unfriendliness towards noobs here. Perhaps that other forum you speak of has very diligent moderators. No shot at the mods here, just could be they run things differently over there. You seem to be free to speak your thoughts here, no matter how nasty or unproductive they be.

KVR has a production forum, but it's not really for discussion, it's for asking questions. Strange the way it's set up, it really encourages new producers to ask elementary questions. That's fine I guess, but it's not what I need.

Posted by supernewbie on Jul-27-2007 00:16:

but why everyone have been not bitter to me! i am a newbie trance producer too?

Posted by xruntime on Jul-27-2007 01:51:

This happens a lot on IRC as well...and I hate people who do it. I act nice to everyone regardless of how noobish they are.
