[2 questions] re: Ecler Mixers & Korg Pad

Ok, so I'm thinking about doing some upgrades to my existing setup.

1. Ecler Mixers

I've always thought of the best mixers being Allen & Heath, Rane and, to a slightly lesser degree, Vestax. At the moment I own a Vestax which has been brilliant, but is getting a bit old. (Played on an xone 62 for the first time the other night - total bliss, especially that famous filter!)

I know nothing about Ecler mixers, except that they are expensive. Are they any good? What are their strengths and weaknesses?

2. Effects Unit

Also thinking about buying an effects unit, as my mixer has none built in. Looking for something cheapish.

Is the Korg Mini Kaoss Pad worth the money? Again, strengths/weaknesses? Anything you'd recommend instead?

Thanks

Don't like the Nuos very much because of the EQ bands, not my favorite setup, but they make solid products. Much better than Vestax imo which have really bad sound quality....

Just on a side note I'd say the best possible mixer to buy under 4 channels is the Rane Empath, the rotary being my choice. I don't know how important 4 channels is to you, but if I was going to drop cash on a dj mixer tomorrow, it'd be either a Rane Empath, Allen & Heath Xone 92 or a DJM-800...

Preferably all with rotary knobs.

I have a NUO4. From what I've heard, Ecler mixers have great sound quality and are pretty reliable.

I have heard people complain about the EQs, and I think the mids are a little bit wider than most other mixers, but I don't really have anything to compare against.

Only other concern you may have is the lack of channel vumeters, but there is a PFL (cue) vumeter and a signal & peak light for each channel.

I ended up getting a NUO4 mainly because of the price, MIDI, and 4-channels. Oh, and it also has send/return for efx, and XLR & RCA outputs (and some more).

i had my nuo4 for about a year now.. it has great sound quality and the wide eq's are a plus. it is kinda mid-heavy, compared to other mixers, but once i got used to it, it don't bother me a bit. i wish it had vu meters for each channels, though, it's not a big deal.

+1 rane empath rotary is the ideal mixer for a home studio.

Rane sound quality.
Efx loop.
Rotary.
3 channels to connect everything.
