Review : Best of Trance Mark Olivier Guvernment 07-28-2007

THANK YOU BAKI!!!!!!!!

Dude if it wasn't for you I would never have made it out to this event and it definitely wasn't one to be missed. Props to you dude.
I arrived into the Guv shortly after 11:30 and already Mark Olivier was sentting the pace for what would be a spectacular night. He was laying some sick House beats early on, a few anthems that kept the placing jumping wild. Slowly around 2:00, flips it to Trance and in true form laying down more classics that practically gets the whole place begging for more, near the end had a nice pace slowing it down still with the classics. 4:00 came around my body was aching for being out for so long that I called it a night. First time in a long while meeting up the TA contigency, big shout-outs to everyone: Baki, Josh, Jaime, Katy, Larissa, Sara, Nada and everybody I else I missed. Probably gonna take the next few weeks off but will see you all at LoL.

Cheers
Khoa

you guys didn't get the Labour of Love flyer?

Posted by Yohan on Jul-29-2007 14:44:

No LoL flyer

Got in around 10:45. One of first few in the club. Mark O started off with some dark prog and slowly picked it up with some classic house tunes. Can't ID for the life of me though.

3 hours of house and Mark O suddenly turns up the bpm and goes into trance mode.

Until 6am, it was everything I've been waiting for all those years going clubbing. Trance, the way it is suppose be. First time hearing a lot of these tunes in a club so it was a very special event for me.

Went to the front of the club and partied with TAs. Robbie (Stilez) going bonkers pretty much every tune dropped. (And that singalong to As the Rush Comes. Hilarious. I so hate that tune!) Haven't bounced at a club that hard in a loooong time.

5am comes and Mark O plays all the cheese vocal tunes and I almost threw up. Before, he put in an odd vocal tune here and there and the set was flowing well. But 5am it was an hour of all my hated vocal trance tunes. Since when did Helsinki Scorchin, The World is Watching Me, Needs to Feel become classic trance? Disappointing.

Then Mark O turns down the flow big time and plays some house. It was ok, but after the euphoric bliss that was classic trance, it was meh. By that time I got tired anyways so I took off around 6:30am.

Overall: 7.5/10
Tune of the Night: DK - Murder was the Bass

PS: That stalker dude horned up on E, huge Samoan guy looks like Fatu from WWE with no shirt on. CREEPY!

Overall a pretty good night indeed with some of the best TOTAs money could buy haha.

--Major thank you to Shaya for hooking me up with the pass!
--Some amazing classic trance tunes played in the Main Room ('Motorcycle--As the Rush Comes'--> paging Nada haha).
--Deko-ze was incredible inside the Gallery: he played a solid set, very dirty, and as always was friendly to all those around him (track of the night was, of course, Dubfire--Roadkill).
--(Though this may sound rather silly, the highlight of the night for me was having Deko-ze hand me some money and go retrieve him a drink ...I spoke with him for a little bit after his set and thanked him for many amazing times inside the Gallery and that I look forward to rocking out to house sometime after I start school (mid-semester)).
-Thank you to every individual who chatted or danced with me There were a lot of smiling faces last night (at the same time I feel as if last night's crowd was the worst I've ever seen (ppl being very pushy, ppl getting into fights with security guards, and being packed like sardines in some areas of the club).
--Many folks were aware that last night was my final summer party (and I can't even count the number of ppl who pleaded with me to at least come to LOL....thx for the love guys!). Last night was really fun and it was wonderful to party with all of you amazing TOTAs, especially those who I don't see as often. I have boundless appreciation for (and pride in) the friendiness of this community

YES, I do indeed think I won't be going to any more events this summer; last night was it

Awesome night. Swore to myself a while ago that I would never go back to Guv, but only if there was a good reason too. Boy was this ever a good reason too.

MARK OLIVER FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!
WOW!
That was my first, true, Mark Oliver experience. I've heard him many many times before, but that was really something else! This guy is definatley one of the best dj's in the WORLD. Hell, they even treated him like the president, somehow I found myself backstage without a wristband and they FREAKED OUT! They waited til the DJ booth lowered, and they brought me up to the booth just so they could ask him personally if he knew me, LMAO!! My friend managed to slip a wristband on me before it ended, so it was all good.

It allllll started with Marco V - Red, Blue, Purple. Then Murder was the Bass, LIKE OMGWTF!! THe night just followed suit from there.I don't even know what to say! It's been a long time since I just stood there with my hands in the air track after track after track after track. It was even like an old-school party in there! We definatley took over that dancefloor a few times, just awesome!

And would people STOP BITCHING about MO playing house!
That's how you DJ, OK! You build a night, and you bring a night down!

Posted by Mortyman on Jul-29-2007 20:24:

Oh, and who was the first person to ID Coldplay - Clocks (Marco V Remix) to grab the FIRST free CD handed out????

That's right.... THIS GUUUUUUUUY
