Underworld

Can you recommend me some good/famous tracks of this band ? I would like to check them out. The only 2 track I know are Born Slippy and Cowgirl.

Recommendations for other similar sounding tracks/bands are also welcome.

Thanks

"Two Months Off" will always be my favorite Underworld track.

Other classics for me are "King of Snake," "Jumbo," "Dark & Long," and "Pearls Girl."

I fucking love Underworld. So sad I won't get to see them this fall

Since you asked about similar-sounding bands, might I suggest Fluke? Their album Risotto would be a great starting point - see here for samples.

Risotto looks good. I usually check stuff on Napster, cause it's free and you get to hear the full tracks.

I concur. Fluke are fucking awesome. If anything, Underworld should be a band that sounds like Fluke, as Fluke are both older and better.

Not to detract from Underworld. Their first album- Dubnobasswithmyheadman is a beauty.

Correction. Underneath the Radar was their first.

Posted by sljiva on Jul-29-2007 20:55:

For their original production check out greatest hits album (1992-2002). Some nice remixes they've done:
Drum Club - Sound System (Underworld Mix)
William Orbit - Water From a Vine Leaf (Underwater Mix Part 2)
Sven Vth - Harlequin - The Beauty And The Beast (Underworld Alternative Mix)
Leftfield - Song Of Life (Steppin' Razor Mix)

Their Lemon Interupt stuff is also good (Dirty, Eclipse, Big Mouth)

dark and long is a good track

Yes Pearl's Girl is some nasty prog breaks at its best. Did you listen to Dark & Long yet? When you do, go listen to the Dark Train Mix of that track. It's a prog trance classic.

Here's a house remix of the famous 'Jumbo' track:

If you like Underworld you will also like Orbital. They too produce breaks and dabble in other genres as well. Try hunting down their last set as a group called: Orbital - Final Performance - Live at Maida Vale (28-07-04). That set sums up their career in a nutshell.
