Question About My BX5A

I have a pair of M Audio Bx5a monitors and right now they are connected to my Mixer by XLR. The problem now is that I have to move them and connect them with TRS cables everytime I want to use my computer for music. Is it possible to have the XLR and TRS connected at the same time? Or is this a bad idea?

i'd use the mixer

If you are thinking of getting some type of y cable to connect the two into your monitors at the same time you can not do that.

I'd run the computer into a spare unused channel on the mixer, and just run the computer through the mixer

A mackie big knob would be a good idea.

Your computer probably has 3.5mm stereo output, and your mixer probably RCA (the red and white ones). You'll need a cable that goes from one to the other (3.5mm male -> RCA male).

The speakers will connect to the mixer the same way it is now (XLR).

Slightly tangential, but one of the issues I've had with sharing speakers is placement of the speakers so that it works with both your DJ console and computer. I've had them back to back, and now it's everything placed on my desk. I have yet to find a good solution for this.

Absolutely. Probably better then routing through the mixer. But it's a bit expensive for jut routing audio to the speaker like in this case.

My sentiments exactly - quality bit of kit but a bit pricey for this situation.

PC -> mixer is your best option

Thanks everyone, I ended up having the cables to rout it to my mixer! My on;y problem now is the speakers are too far away for producing purposes . Its ok tho I gotta to learn how to beatmatch anyways
