Mixing with ableton

Hello,

i'm trying to mix with ableton since few weeks (i will receive my UC33 tomorrow )

i like to mix 2 song together and have their break finish at the same time, the problem is :

there is 2 view in ableton (i dont remember their name), one with samples as box, other as wav form.

how can i figure when 2 break will finish at the same time on the box view ?

i know how doing it on the wavform view but, in this view:
- i cant do loop on a single track
- when i zoom, there is a big chance i miss click, click on the time line and make a jump.

how can i view both tracks to know when should i start the second ?

Im doing it on vinyl/cd, count my times and launch the second tracks at good times, but i have to prefectly know my tracks.

or just set live's quantization to 4 bars and let it do everything for you...

How BS.

that was just sarcasm...but I won't say that its a bad advice first off...you would love to use it once you would have to play on a crappy ableton setup...

so please

Not sure if i understand you're question right. You can only view 1 wavform for each track you can't view both. When you've wrapped you track add a wrap marker on every 8th bar to give you some visual help, so you know when the next bar finshes & the new one starts. Set your quantize to 1 bar as well...

Head over to abletonlivedj.com if you're after some help

I wish you could overlay wave forms, track over track.

Yeah it would be nice. Hopefully it might happen in Live 7, alot of people have requested it on the Ableton forums...

I also hope they add more loop regions to individual tracks!

Doing the cut up sasha thing is annoying sometimes, but I doubt they will add more loop regions per track, because that would be more of a DJ thing than a producer thing and I dont think they are ready to call their software full on DJ software, yet.

Ahhh! Another thing I have wanted for soooooo long.

It's not anywhere close to being "DJ" software.

They'll probably just say, duplicate the clip, use that to create a new loop region.

+1. it was never specifically designed to be used by dj's although the community has certainly embraced it. its always geared more as a "live performance tool" hence the name ableton "live".
