Dave Seaman

Is anyone here going to the Global Underground Melbourne 022 launch with Dave Seaman playing a 4 hr set on Wednesday?

Posted by Renegade on Apr-18-2002 17:05:

Yeah, tis tempting.

Might be a money problem though with Crasher and PVD coming up soon as well..... how much are tickets btw?

Heh, I'd love to turn up and then see myself looking completely mashed on the DVD. Now that'd be something.

Posted by Mikrop on Apr-19-2002 05:56:

Tickets for Dave Seaman are $40 incl. b/f and GST.
Just listening to the gu22 cd... sounds like a very interesting night coming up...

Yeah I'll be there too. I've never even heard of the guy before though
But some friends are going so I thought I might as well.

I heard the DVD's already been recorded. All of my friends went, and I didn't - they saw clips of the dvd on the net somwhere and they were all in it.

Yeah exactly. It was recorded on the night of the GU 22 set, January 12th - and I think I managed to get my mug in front of a couple of the cameras.

But they're previewing the DVD at QBH when he does his set there on Wednesday, which is why I was saying it'd be good to turn up and see myself looking mashed on when they play it for the first time on some massive bloody screen.

Although it looks now like I'll be getting dragged to the Harp in Kew on Wednesday instead. :-/

Just for the record, he's a pretty decent trancy/proggy DJ - has a good technique, and, from what I've heard of him (that set, his Renaissance/GU CD's etc.), he plays some fairly, cool, smooth tunes.

Some people classify him as a "hands-in-the-air" type of dj (which is a big no-no in the prog world ), and apparently he cheesed up the Xmas eve gig he did here at Room last year by playing "Chase the Sun" and "Rapture" and so on towards the end of the night, but from what I've heard, he seems a pretty class DJ.

And, if you're interested, he's a good producer as well. That remix he did of our Kylie a couple of years back was unreal.

But anyway, I guess it's up to you to see him and decide for yourself. Have fun, and keep in mind that while you're dancing to sublime prog trance, I'll be shit-faced and chasing rich chicks....... so who's got the better end of the deal then?

Thumbs up dave seaman

Hey everyone

Well to anyone wondering about going to see dave seaman or not let me give you some advice. Go see him! I went on saturday night to home in sydney and not even the crowd being full of dickheads could upset the wicked set that he played. I hope the cd is something like that because it will be worth the price. So if you are wondering go and see the great bald man!

Whoever didn't make it to Dave Seaman last night missed out!!!

Nothing more can be said about it...

Posted by Philby on Apr-26-2002 15:19:

Anyone have any idea of a tracklist?
I thought I almost heard something that sounded like the Sinead O'Connor - Troy and but I'm probably wrong, also something that almost sounded like Urban Train?

Posted by Mikrop on Apr-27-2002 10:23:

Sorry man... no idea about a tracklist... didn't recognise anything

Posted by Tranceilvania on Apr-27-2002 11:39:

Thumbs down

Ummhh.. I wasn't there but recently listened to GU 22 Melbourne. My judgement=IT SUCKS I don't wanna be disrespectfull but I did not like it even a bit. Its toooooooo Progressive and experimental. Nothing to get exited about...More like a chill-out type off music.

gu 22

Hey mate

Well if thats the case its a bit of a bummer. I was looking forward to this release. It doesn't sound anything like the set he played in sydney, it was another world away from being "chilled". i might have to have a listen before i buy it.

Posted by Tranceilvania on Apr-28-2002 01:41:

I'm serious mate, even Gatecrashers chillout albums are more Trancey

Posted by Simon00 on Apr-28-2002 01:49:

Ok i'll ask another expert. Stipsy you know the tracklisting for this cd give me a rundown of the tracks. Am i going to fall asleep? Is it worth buying?

youve already got a copy of it nervous..lol..its on the cds that are stuck in brighton le sands

i dont think its worth buying...cd 1 is good....cd 2 a bit too all over the place (its not 2 bad)...doesnt even come close to his prior releases...a dissapointing seaman release...

the night i thought was shit too...he played a crap set..and yes philby he did play the creamer mix of troy

seaman plays a different set everytime he bloody comes down...last time as trancey for the recording..and this time really toughv and techy with too many vocals

I totally agree with you Pete, Nervous Download it from AG if you must. It waz sort of a disappointment to me listening to it. Well not anyone can make great Trance nowadays

As for J00F's White Label: Wooooohaaaaaaaaaa its pumping and thumping all the way and in certain times really emotional (as for all trance should be at certain times)Most outstanding track for me is the S.O.S song=Message in a bottle. This old the Police songs remix was a suprise for me! Loved it to the max. I've already played it at least 50 times over and over again

Posted by Mikrop on Apr-29-2002 14:53:

I got the cd before going and thought we'd be in for a crap night.

But the music on the cd is waaaaaaaaaay different to what he actually played... VERY pleased about that.

Did someone mention vocals? I didn't hear any... interesting.

Posted by stipsy on Apr-29-2002 23:32:

you must have been hallucentaing then!!

the first 6 or 7 tracks were vocal tracks

Posted by Mikrop on May-02-2002 02:23:

I was too busy concentrating on other things to worry about vocals... sorry...
