if u can shell out another two hundred dollars, u can go for a used djm-800
http://www.audiolines.com/product.p...&cat=332&page=1
Audiolines seems to list a used version for everything, but it's unlikely they have them.
For an $800 budget:
Ecler Nuo-4 - Great sound quality and build quality, big fat knobs, MIDI controls that actually make sense and were well thought out (unlike the DJM-800)
The DJM-400 is more like $500, but it's of course 2 channel with effects. Not a bad little mixer if you don't think you'll want more than 2 channels. It does NOT have a booth out, either, or an effects loop.
The Denon DN-X1500s isn't a bad choice either. Note the "s" model, it has improved upfaders that don't lag like the original.
The DJM-500/600 should be avoided at this point unless you get a super deal.

The nuo 4 should be about $800...

this mixer is cooler and better sounding than all the aforementioned mixers: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...em=170135449103
and I just lowered the price to $900. Quite a steal for a $2500 mixer with $700 flight case.

Not bad, very solid mixer.

If you don't need MIDI and have small hands, then the DJM 400 is for you. If you want to use MIDI for effects and mixing and such, the Ecler Nuo 4 is for you. The DJM 400 to me is more of a hobbyist mixer, it's higher end than a Numark mixer like a DXM 06, but not a DJM 800 or an Ecler Nuo 4 either.
No Allen & Heath in this thread....wtf?
IMO the only A+H mixers worth buying are the 92 and the V6/S6... maybe the new S2.
The 32 has those weird gains on the back. The 62 is decent, but has annoyances which were corrected in the 92, which is waaay out of this price range.
