Love Poundin' Sensation Windmill Sessions 08 August (deep, melodic prog/trance)

Windmill Sessions 08 August

Beautiful and melodic music is the order of the day here! Its music that is ideal for moments of contemplation and blissful relaxation.
The series continues as ever with an emphasis on subtle, building progression through the mix, interspersed with portions of melodic dreaminess...
Drift away!

Tyler Bates-Message For The Queen
Lokitas-Magenta
Mango-Kisses
3 Colours-Morning Dust (thomas sagstad monday morning remix)
X-plore-Sun Deep
Sedative+Sonorone-Untouchable
Mango-Lollipop Girl
Elusive-Mysticold
Facundo Mohrr-Once Upon A Time (max demand's progressive mix)
Terje Bakke-About Trust
Ifrolov-Cloudy 2007 (original vocal mix)
Abdul Bayyari ft. Josh Money-400 Years Till Dawn (eelke kleijn remix)
Junk Project-Composure (solar stone remix)

Tyler Bates-Message For The Queen
A suitably epic intro taken from the '300' soundtrack creates a cinematic start.
Lokitas-Magenta
Thoughtful, smooth breakbeat up first. Lovely buildup of sounds throughout in this one.
Mango-Kisses
A wonderfully warm track that just holds the listener in dream-like stasis till the next track.
3 Colours-Morning Dust (thomas sagstad monday morning remix)
A distinctive melancholic melody carries you along the dreamscapes here. A perfect Monday morning track, full of sadness and hope.
X-plore-Sun Deep
Deep, rolling smooth progressive reminiscent of the sound a few years ago keeps the melodic flow going.
Sedative+Sonorone-Untouchable
Chants, quirky melodics and ebbing and flowing soundscapes feature in this slightly darker track.
Mango-Lollipop Girl
A sensational piece of work from my favourite new producer of 2007. A simple but beautiful melody, blissful harmonics and a degree of experimentation. A real standout track as the mix ups the pace and delivers more majestic melodies.
Elusive-Mysticold
One of the more dancefloor-friendly tracks from his new innovative new album, 'Mysticold' has a richly evocative atmosphere, a superb bassline and good use of instruments.
Facundo Mohrr-Once Upon A Time (max demand's progressive mix)
Deep, slow, melodic progressive with a slight hint of menace and suspense.
Terje Bakke-About Trust
Introduced by a memorable bassline and lead, this track has that soothing summer feel which provides a great foil to the previous track.
Ifrolov-Cloudy 2007 (original vocal mix)
Drifting into trancier waters next with the high energy and operatic vocals of 'Cloudy'. An emotional melody carries the tune along in true euphoric fashion.
Abdul Bayyari ft. Josh Money-400 Years Till Dawn (eelke kleijn remix)
Trance-tastic stuff! Atmospheric, emotional and futuristic all without any semblance of cheese, despite a male vocal(!). A great advert for the genre.
Junk Project-Composure (solar stone remix)
They don't make 'em like this anymore. A true trance journey, full of blissful peaks and expectant, dreamy builds. A great track, worthy of ending any trance mix.

Hope u enjoy Please let me know your opinions, thanks!

Giving this a proper headphone listen as I type. More to come...

thx for the mix. I will have a listen later this day.

Okay, finishing up now. This is easily one of your best mixes. The tracks are rich, dreamy, emotive, and superb. I really need to make the time to find tracks like these. God bless a label if they still put them out on vinyl, as I don't have CDJs.

From a technical standpoint, this mix is your best display of proper phrasing (at least as far as this listener is concerned). Excellent phrasing throughout the mix - no dead spots for me in this mix.

My only technical complaint would be putting Morning Dust between Kisses and Sun Deep. I was up, then down, then back up. This is very minor compared to the overall mix, however.

The mix out of Morning Dust into Sun Deep was smoooooooooooth. Had to listen to it a few times to really catch it.

Tune of the mix for me: Ifrolov-Cloudy 2007 (original vocal mix). Love that Solar Stone remix for a closer. I recognize the lead in that track from Red Jerry's Chilled Euphoria, but I can't place it at the moment. I'll have to research that.

Quality review Zoso, cheers mate! Regarding the points you made:

Hmm, some might be available on vinyl, try the Headrush and Arctic Wave record Labels. For the most part its a digital age, fortunately or unfortunately depending on how nostalgic you are!

Cool! I always listen to the mix extensively 1st, so I can be as happy as possible with the technical point of the mixing. And of course its something that is constantly evolving as my experience grows.

A very interesting point my man. The 3Colours tune has a bassline and tempo better suited to the latter part of the mix, but in this instance I felt such a melancholic and calm track (in regards to atmosphere and melody) would work well nearer the beginning. Its hard sometimes when you love all the tracks to objectively structure the mix!

These tunes just leant themselves very well to eachother.

I'm thinking that sample is from Accadia - Into the Dawn (Accadia Ambient Mix). That's going to drive me nuts until I pin it down.

You da man!!! pwnage set by the way too. lollipop girl is one of the best songs I've heard all year.

Blissful, once again..

You have great taste in music.. some of these tracks are absolutely beautiful.

I have never heard of any of these tracks (although the names are familiar) so it's hard to ID any of the tracks that I find spectacular, but in saying that, the last two in your set (apart from many in between) are exactly that.. and it ends the set beautifully..

"Abdul Bayyari ft. Josh Money-400 Years Till Dawn (eelke kleijn remix)
Junk Project-Composure (solar stone remix)"

Again, congrats

Mate that was quite humbling! Thanx for your feedback. As for the last two tunes, they are often the most important part of the mix as they create the defining memorable moment for me in most mixes.
Its just great to know that there are other fans who feel the same about the music im so passionate about...Cheers!

Going on vacation in a few more weeks, and these mixes will be going with me, sir. Can't wait for September to roll around.

sos about the late reply, iv been er....busy

this is once again a classy mix. i love the little intro at the start and then the subtle chanting that follows in sections of the mix - very inspired!

there are quite a few tunes i knew in there for once! 400 Years Till Dawn is right up my ally! nice bit of melody and groovey bassline.

top pick with the solarstone remix, u always use great classics that fit in perfectly and have stood the test of time.

u need this in your life people!

Cheers bud. To address the points u made:

Intros are vitally important for me, I always try and find a specific intro track to begin a mix with. In fact all of my favourite dj mixes over the years kicked off with a suitably epic intro (Pvd's Columbiahalle E-mix for example). It really sets the tone and whets the appetite.
The Eeelke Kleijn remix of that track is great, good call. Trancey (but dark), male vocals (but not cheesey) and a great energy (which most modern "trance" music lacks).
As for Composure. Its a foooooking classic. Many a rave has been had by me over that tune!
Ta again!
