Reid Speed began her DJ career in the New York City drum & bass underground. As a teenage raver full of passion for music she bought her turntables in early 1996 and began playing out less than a year later. Her early sets generated curiosity as one of few female DJs at the time but Reid quickly came to earn respect for her skills in the highly competitive NYC scene. By the summer of '97 she was a resident of rave promoters Stuck on Earth and the following year a member of the Direct Drive crew. At their numerous events she cut her teeth playing alongside the top names in US & UK drum & bass, 2 step and breaks.

At the same time Reid was serving as her college radio station's RPM director as well as working at Breakbeat Science, the US's first exclusively drum & bass store. Capitalizing on their large and widespread customer base, her demos soon spread across the country, which led to her travelling the US, Puerto Rico, Ireland, Canada, and Mexico. She also visited England and developed a love for UK Garage which inspired her to promote her own events. In 1998 she distributed her first garage/2 step mix and in 2000, Reid, DB and 4.0 Marketing came together to do a successful series of 2 step events, including the first UK Garage showcase at the 2000 Winter Music Conference.

By 1999 Reid had also begun working on original production, releasing "SIMPLOT" with FS on Jungle Sky, and in 2000 assisting Datcyde with a remix of NYC jungle anthem "Naughty Ride" featuring MC Blaise, which was released on Taciturn. 2001's saw the release of her debut mix cd, "Resonance", which yielded "Mr Fix It" with Ming & FS, and "Picture This" with DJ Seen. Then a remix of Le Tigre's "Dyke March 2001" followed. 2005 and into the '06 have seen Reid collaborate with Jon (S), Sense, MC Dino and DJ Swamp on an full length album of breaks and drum & bass that she hopes to release later this year. And In March 2006 her remix of Disorder's "Deadline" was released on Acumen Records.

In 2001, after thirteen self released mix tapes and one animated short movie for Showtime's Shonext channel, "Resonance" was released by Breakbeat Science. The mix garnered massive critical praise in publications like URB, Fader, Flaunt, and Paper, and was a commercially successful debut. In support of the release, a 40 date tour sponsored by Mixer magazine introduced her sound to an even wider audience. Immediately after wrapping that tour, Reid came home to NYC only to jump right on another tour, this time with Madhattan breakbeat kings Ming & FS. They did 28 dates in 30 days across America in an RV, like an indie band. Warming the crowd up for an average of 3 hours a night, Reid developed and fine tuned her now signature genre-blending style.

After that month on the bus Reid was primed for a massive change. She moved to Los Angeles, home of all things music to take her career to the next level. She found different audience on the West Coast, fans who embraced her love of breaks and house and welcomed her with open ears. She started Rude Sound, a party showcasing UK Garage and nu skool breaks.

Then in the summer of 2003, Breakbeat Science came calling for their second mix, a stormer entitled "Life After Dark". Inspired by the terrible tragedy of 9/11 and the bureaucratic decline of the NYC scene it was another step forward for Ms Speed. Another tour followed, supported by a number of full page ads and an extensive street marketing campaign with Triple 5 Soul, their "Define Your Soul" series with Jean Grae, Charlie Dark, and Peanut Butter Wolf. During that summer, Reid also recieved a call from a TV show looking for a special DJ to provide on-air flavor to the show. After competing against hundreds of male scratch/hip hop DJs, Reid was personally chosen by Jamie Kennedy to spin her own blend of drum & bass on his show, the Jamie Kennedy Experiment (WB). She went on to also appear as the DJ in an episode of Spike TV's MDN.
2005 saw Reid chosen to judge BPM Magazine & Rockstar Energy drink's "Beauty & the Beats" contest with Dj Rap and Colette. She and Colette then toured with the winner and appeared in more full page ads as well as on an episode of Bravo's "Blowout".

Her mixes and original tracks have recently been featured on Power 106's "Power Tools" show, Groove Radio, ibreaks.co.uk, and many of her original productions are currently being caned by some of the top djs and producers from around the world.

Influenza is the Canadian breakbeat production duo of Jeff Malcolm (aka Psidream) and Jason Craig. Eva's legendary sets have won the hearts of many, and gained her a legion of fans in the process. Her expertise behind the decks have placed her alongside the world's most famous names: Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk, Judge Jules, John Digweed, Felix Da Housecat and Benny Benassi, are just some of the giant list that reads like the who's who of dance music.

Eva is a true underground pioneer, first playing house music in the late 80's at the infamous Underground in Seattle. She returned to the electronic music scene in the mid-nineties, particularly influenced by Derrick Carter, as well as the emerging sounds flowing from the UK. Eva set up the first drum and bass weekly "Pressure", responsible for bringing pioneers such as Grooverider, DJ SS, Doc Scott, Jumpin' Jack Frost, Ed Rush and Optical, and at the time a relatively unknown Dieselboy.

Eva is also one of the first DJs to transcend genres successfully, crossing back over from drum and bass to house. Her current sound has been characterized as edgy, a reflection of her roots of italio disco and house, techno, electro, progressive and breaks, as well as her love of British dance music culture.

Eva has played muse to many of the people she comes into contact with, inspiring both clubbers and peers alike. James Lavelle just happens to be one of those people. He promptly invited her to the UK to perform at London's superb club night FABRICLIVE. She has played all over the world, most recently in Asia including Jakarta, Indonesia, and Seoul, Korea. She's also been recognized by URB, Raves.com, and cited in DJ Magazines top100 DJ poll as one to watch.

Eva has not only established herself as an amazing DJ talent, but also an emerging producer. Her collaboration with Medway remixing UNKLE's sublime tune Invasion, (featuring the vocals of Massive Attacks 3D), was a highlight of James Lavelle's Global Underground 026: Romania, and received worldwide acclaim. Rocking straight into 2005, her most recent remix with production pal Medway and newcomer 13 for Kelly Osbourne's smash hit One Word, ( a top tune of WMC ), debuted as the highest electronic music download on iTunes, March 2005.

With over 20 years of combined musical experience, the artists that make up Quadrant bring the best of each of their abilities to the table, and the results are phenomenal.

Leigh Caplan (Texel) began playing the piano at the age of six. By the age of 10 he was writing music and completed a string quintet by the age of 12. At 18 Texel started producing electronic music and had a release on Seattle based Ornj Plus Recordings shortly thereafter. Since then, he's absorbed every bit of information he's learned about production and has put it to good use. He combines his musical acumen with an equally extensive technical background to ensure Quadrant's tunes are engineered as well as they are written.

The city of Philadelphia provided fertile ground for Quadrant's diverse range of creative output (one half, Cyanide, is now in Atlanta; Texel resides in Seattle). The bass resonating from their third floor studio on any given night was proof of the amount of dedication to dissecting, analyzing, and reassembling musical compositions. In 2005 they appeared on two releases for the UK-based Drum and Bass label Renegade Hardware and in February 2006 Manipulated Living served on the Carpe Diem album sampler. "My Beautiful Liar" also made an appearance on the Fear No Evil LP. They produced two tracks on Mental Sharp's album, "Above the Beats and Below the Bass," and worked closely with Chuck Treece on a remix of Leiana's "Talk."

Not content to be confined to the studio environment, both members of Quadrant are a force to be reckoned with behind the decks, and are widely known for meticulously mixed sets which place equal emphases on dance floor energy and emotional depth.

With several projects and collaborations on the immediate horizion, 2007 will prove to be the best year yet for Quadrant.

In September 2001, I attended my first party here in Seattle. I was eighteen years old and one month removed from relocating here from Brussels, Belgium. The minute I walked into the venue I was taken aback by the production, the music, and most importantly the people. I knew that someday, I wanted to throw a kick ass party. I began going out every weekend, sometimes twice a weekend, to learn as much about this community as possible. Within nine months, I received an opportunity to work for United State of Consciousness (USC Events) as a volunteer setting up stages for USC6. Two months later, Tyler Simmonds offered me an internship with USC through FreakNight 6. That internship later lead to a full time position working for the company. I was nineteen years old.

Fast forward to 2007. My time in Seattle is coming to a close, and after years of throwing a multitude of successful parties and club nights with my family at United State of Consciousness, I have decided that it's time I do what I wanted to do from day one: throw the best, most memorable party I possibly can with the best talent this city has to offer on my own terms. I've talked about it for years, but always said I wouldn�t do it unless I could do it proper. I was also a little fearful of stepping out from the comfort and safety of the USC umbrella, but with the massive support I have received from this community, I feel that it's not my party anymore, but our party, and it's our time to remember what great parties are made of. It's our time to bring things back2basic.

There are so many people I need to thank who I have met and have helped me over the past six years. I sadly don't have room here for everybody so if I've forgotten your name, please understand, you know how I am.
