[OFFICIAL] RUGBY WORLD CUP 2007 IN FRANCE

LET'S GO !!!!

Posted by tubby on Aug-27-2007 01:21:

starting to get excited, it's been a pretty half-assed year for rugby so far, with the AB's sitting out half the super14, and the boks sending a 3rd string team to oz and NZ in the tri-nations.
Springboks looked pretty good against scotland without really pushing themselves, but can they win away from home against the top teams?
Can the all blacks make it through the entire campaign without choking. They should win, but they should have won in the past as well.

just found out there's out door screens for the games in a park a short walk from home, not sure if they'll be live though. Most games will be 4-6am here.

Yeah. Just couldn't get anything going against tough Argies defence

Missing two penalties kinda sucked too.

Chabal looks like a cross between caveman and Neanderthal. I wet my pants in fear...

a surprisingly entertaining first weekend of matches. Canada and namibia were unexpectedly good.
All blacks were simply awesome, SA was good but not great, and with de villiers out, they will struggle in the centres, especially with pieterson on the wing, who cannot catch, tackle of kick.
England looks quite weak, struggling against USA.

Woohoo, we didn't lose by much!

We're the only amateur side in the competition, New Zealand is going to absolutely demolish us.

Very surprised by Canada's performance first half against Wales.

some surprising results and very exciting games.
now we can just wait for the australian media to start complaining about how penalties and drop goals are worth too much.

Goodbye Wallabees!! And why the fuck do New Zealand always choke? They choke just as much as England do in international football/soccer tournaments!

I'm loving how England made the final and beat the host nation. I don't follow rugby very closely but its good to see the game's inventors kicking ass again. The SA's are being very cocky about the final and that doesn't win them any points in my books.

And what the fuck is up with this Sports forum people? It's dead as fuck. I don't even know why I post here anymore.

I think the speed of the South Africans could give the English some trouble.

It will be a very good match for sure.

I only started watching rugby when I was in Paris right at the end of the round robins. I saw two matches in the pubs and thought it was worth following until the end of the tournament.

I thought the French outplayed the English for 75 % of the game...but only just barely outplayed them. The English defenders won the game by stopping the French when they were within 15 meters a few times in the 2nd half.

Too much of England's hope rests on the left foot of that Wilkinson dude. Sure he won the French game, but it shouldn't have been that close.

Posted by tubby on Oct-15-2007 23:28:

england came up with the game plan to win both games and executed it very well. However, the boks have the muscle to match it up front, as good a goal kicker in montgomery, and a better backline (except for pieterson, how someone who cannot tackle, kick or catch makes the team is a mystery)
they will simply kick for the corners and let their great lineout put pressure on england, and it will get very tiring for the english forwards to pick and drive all the way from their own 22 for the whole game.
That's how it should go, but in finals the underdog always has a good chance.

Hes the kicker most of the hope is bound to rest on his shoulders its the same with any team if u have a crap kicker or he just doesnt perform
u will lose matches.

well, at least England are still kinda dominant in one of the sports they gave to the rest of the world. I hope they trounce those cocky colonials from South Africa.

It seems like only yesterday that I was getting rat arsed at 9am in the morning whilst watching England in the RWC final. I fear a slaughtering on the cards this time round though, but what an achievement to get as far as we have done.

Very true.

i guess what I meant was that the rest of the team didn't seem to rise to the occasion. Their first try was a great play, but a really shitty bounce for the French player who had no chance. The rest of the match, they didn't really push much inside 15 meters.

France played most of the 2nd half in the England half of the field, and were close to goal 4 or 5 times. An unlucky / ill-timed penatly against England would have given them an easy kick at goal.

Don't get me wrong, I'm cheering for England tonight. i just think the rest of the team needs to step up.

Posted by sleepydragon on Oct-20-2007 22:49:

how the hell was that not a try for england? the official must of watched it 10 times and didnt give it he must of been blind cause no one
else in the stadium could see anything wrong with it.
