I went to Japan in June. It was great. I didn't do much clubbing, except for one nite in Ageha in Tokyo. Personally I didn't think Tokyo was all that great, it seemed like another big city to me and I come from a big city. I preferred Kyoto over Tokyo.

In Tokyo, Rappongi and Akasaka were fun, but tourist traps. But I did have a good time there.

I really liked Asakusa with the street markets and I had a fabulous tempura lunch there.

ETA: The lonely planet book has really good restaurants there and we didnt have a problem with any restaurants that we went to from the book. Unfortunately I can't remember any names at the moment.

In Singapore the big guns are...

Ministry of Sound
Zouk
Cafe Del Mar

Just head down to Clarke Quay and you'll be sure to find some place to rock it out all night looong.

Good place to start off is New Asia Bar on level 72 of the Swisstel The Stamford (they've got some wicked cocktails and HUGE and I mean HUGE martinis), which is across the road from Raffles Hotel (home of the original Singapore Sling baby!)

Careful though, the 2 for 1 hour at MOS can be dangerous... especially when you get two for 1 jugs of vodka and cranberry and then wake up at 7am on some random street in Singapore blocks away from your hotel. Yeh dude... it CAN happen

As for where to eat, I love the hawker places coz they're SO CHEAP and SO GOOD. No need for fancy schmancy... that's the REAL singapore. I also found some random place in Little India and had an awesome hands-only meal on a banana leaf with curry... OMG YUM. In all honesty you can pretty much eat anywhere, even the food court food is just awesome and sh!ts on the stuff here in Oz in terms of price and quality.

If you like Seafood I recommend the Singapore chilli crab @ Jumbo, East Coast Seafood Centre. Man I'm drooling just thinking about it.

Feck, I think I'm due for another trip to Singapore. Who's with me?!

ps. This shoulda gone in the TA's in Asia thread

...if you have heavy artillery in your wallet it is...$100 minimum to SIT on a beach chair...12 dollar Diet Cokes in orange juice glass, no place to dance.

...was there yesterday, sat on the beach for free, smoked anywhere I wanted, rather than having to leave cafe del mar, drank endlessly from the bar up the street called 7/11.

oh Singapore lah....

btw...logical putting this in the Australian forum, there are lots of Aussies there...love the Canadian/Aussie connection!

in singapore visit the night zoo and juron bird park.
As for eating - most hawker centres are worth trying, and cold tiger beer in the tropical heat always goes down well.
clubbing over ther, zouk is a great club.
also enjoy paying about AUS$12 for vinyl instead of 20. Always wondered why a smaller market like singapore can sell records at almsot half the price.

Check out Womb and Harlem for clubbing in Tokyo: Shibuya [house and RnB respectively].

There are 2 Disneylands in Tokyo - the original Disneyland and Disneyland Sea - don't expect crazy rides, just good for attractions and being amazed how big those theme parks are ...

If you want crazy rides - go to FujiQ Highland - you can buy a Bus/Entry ticket packages @ Shinjuku - forgot the name of the travel agent but it's right next to Yodobashi Camera. Crazy crazy rides ... and it's right next to Mt. Fuji...

To eat - just head over to Shibuya's Centergai [where the big HMV is] - plenty of cool cheap places ~ one unique place is "The Lockup" - you get locked up in a prison cell and you get to drink neon coloured drinks from test tubes and so forth...

Also, check out the Fish Market at Gina - Chou area. Best fish market in the world ???

Don't forget about Akihabara - every man's electronic wet dream!

Harajuku for the crazy fashion and just the plain wierd people - check out Yoyogi-koen on Sunday's ... haha

So much to do in Japan, I just got back from Tokyo last week - spent about 2 weeks there and didnt get to do half of the things we planned - definitely going back in the near future!
