Reggae and Reggaeton Classics
What are some of the best Reggae tracks that you can recall. I remember back in the 90s Reggae was bumpin all over NY then Reggaeton started taking over. What tracks stood out to you.
This track was the official club banger in Ny, the Latinas went crazy on the dance floor when this track came on.
N to the O
gasolina was funny.
Reggaeton Classics?
correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't Reggaeton still a new type of shit music?

lol
my girlfriend used to sing that don omar track all the time before i started to introduce her to house music. When I was teaching myself spanish I actually listened to her music lol - not a good way to learn spanish unless you want to speak 'cafre'
murder she wrote, dem gal dem suggah, romie, stuff from red rat
god there was so many more, totally forgot them lol
but nothing is more funny then seeing a car full of guys blasting reggae..lol
ye, the chaka demus & pliers track is still awesome, you just can't go wrong with that bam bam riddim. i liked when greensleeves did a reissue with new tunes using the bam bam. sizzla's one was good inperticular
but reggae classics, hmmm, bar the usual bob marley, peter tosh etc, anthems.
well, ye. Junior Reed - One Blood, http://youtube.com/watch?v=mnIl1kiShfY ,heavily sampled tune also. MAW used the beginning for Blood Vibes, became then re-used into the dubfield remix of intoxication and for the recent househeads, Francios dubios - Blood. amongst others
also, Black Uhuru - Bull in the pen. http://youtube.com/watch?v=-X204_7mjOE , good cut. Sade - Love Is Stronger than Pride (Mad Professor remix), really lovely this one. sorry no juno or youtube sample. Gregory Isaacs, basicly any tune from him, he rocks, well he got a bit shit later on but his early stuff are killer. ooh, and Cocoa Tea - Can't stop cocoa tea, immense that one
edit, can't forget some Asian Dub Foundation, nice pack of nutters them. Dub Mentality is my favourite track by them
and well, for reggaeton, i actually despise most of it really, but it's good for dancing and stuff ye, i have to admit. nore's oye mi canto managed to get stuck into my brain, well the original remix with gem star and not daddy yankee.
and i fucking hate daddy yankee. whiniest ****** ever
Check out Jimmy Cliff. The guy practically invented Reggae, and deserves (in my opinion) more respect than Bob Marley. I never liked Bob Marley's music. His son is even worse.
The Harder They Come The Harder They Fall

and reggaeton, NO FUCKING MATTER WHAT THOSE ****S SAY, has nothing to do with reggae. they wanna claim ancestry of a great genre to boost their value, when in fact, they're just a shitty latin variation of hip-hop.
at least early reggaeton offered the fact that it was beats and an MC freestyling, normally with a touch battle-style lyrics. it wasn't all gangsta, it was more of an urban thing. then they fucked that up too and became all bling bling and bullshit.
meh.
