Samim - Heater

why?

Posted by RJT on Aug-07-2007 19:13:

Agreed.

Though I must say, it does disappoint me that we're contributing to Beatport's "The Track Everyone is Talking About!" marketing campaign.

Dibs the next track everyone is talking about is the 16BL mix of "Love & Solace"

Oh I've already heard it boss - and you just remember that you're setting the bar pretty fucking high for yourself for a first release

The nice part about that though is the instant "Street Cred," or whatever the devil the kids are calling it these days.

Congrats again to both of you on such a solid release. Well played.

Yea, now I feel bad for feeding the fire ... well, the "Heater" in this case. I just wanted to see if anyone else is as perplexed as I am with regard to this tune :P

Posted by RJT on Aug-07-2007 19:27:

Well - to be fair, he sampled an old Colombian folk song, but yes - it also isn't very good, and has "novelty tune" written all over it.

The only fun thing about it all for me has been playing it for Myra, because she absolutely hates it, and I think her reaction is pretty funny.

I could use a nose job

(And we're getting gay-married for the health insurance so it's on you! )

I would have signed it seriously, its got people making threads about it on a trance board...

love it or hate it, everyone's hearing about it.

There's no arguing it was a smart business move, that's for sure.

And I think BP and Get Physical know it

fantastic track.

Unique track, which I think is lacking these days, but not something I could imagine a lot of people dropping. Maybe at the right place at the right time.

tima and ivan are all over it at sound bar, and i heard victor r play it at spy last thursday... twice. first during the set, then when the lights came on. right place and right time, i guess.

i think 'heater' is enjoyed more by dj's than the crowd, for now anyway.

its acoustics don't move me as much as the ingenuity behind it. just to repeat what's already been said, it's an absolutely fresh track - samim took his creativity to another level, whether we like 'heater' or not. i couldn't believe this track was from him; reinvention and experimentation is the best thing an artist can do. i appreciate its originality.

I knew I heard it at Sound-bar recently! It's a fun track to hear loud, it's fun to see everyone's faces. Including mine lol. Nothing comes close to the delicate yet brutal virality of the Accordion...

Posted by darin epsilon on Aug-08-2007 17:04:

Originality's never a bad thing!

vostroke remix > original

anyway.

i hear ya Rubes! when i first heard it, my initial thoughts were of striped shirts, baguettes, and some sort of potent french cheese (no pun or hidden metaphor intended).

Posted by cmay119 on Aug-08-2007 17:24:

I don't like this track at all. I thought, I should give it a couple listens to see if it would grow on me, but it's almost done the exact opposite.

I can appreciate it from an originality standpoint, but that is the only props I'll give this track.

I assume you mean "von Stroke" and I think his mix is about 200 times worse than the original.

The original is fun as a novelty, CVS remix just makes me sad in my pants
