Sydney - welcome to The Real World

from smh: ROFLMAO X 1000
http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2007...rid=theage:top5

Australia may soon be inundated with boozy, sex-crazed young Americans looking for a good time.

A new season of MTV's popular reality TV show, The Real World, premieres in the US tomorrow, turning a spotlight on Sydney, particularly its nightclub and bar scene.

With millions of young Americans tuning into the show each week, it will likely spark a tourist boom down under

Each season The Real World's producers pick a city and drop seven good-looking American party animals, aged between 18 and 25, into the mix.

The seven are filmed 24 hours a day in their luxury apartment or roaming the city, booze is always flowing, clothes are optional and hook-ups with locals are common.

Cast members have ended up in jail

AS LONG AS THIS DOESN'T COME TO MELBOURNE, I'LL B VERY HAPPY TO SEE SYDNEY DEALING WITH DRUNK YOUNG YANKS LMAOOOOOOOOO

The seven guinea pigs are:

Shauvon, 24, a "buxom blonde bombshell" who writes a sex column for the Sacramento State University newspaper.

Isaac, 21, a "bad boy" from Cleveland who has a drug history and was once on probation for robbery.

Trisha, 19, a "sharp-tongued party girl from California who enjoys drinking, flirting, and flaunting herself with the popular crowd". Raised a devout Christian, she promised her parents to remain a virgin until marriage, but didn't keep the promise.

Cohutta, 23, a redhead hillbilly from a small town in Georgia on the lookout for a wife to take back home.

Dunbar, 22, an "arrogant and hot-headed" frat boy from Mississippi.

KellyAnne, 20, "a self-described tease" from Texas "who craves the attention of men".

Parisia, 21, a straight A student raised in New York by strict Muslim parents.

All sound like perfect candiates for Woomera detention centre

Shauvon, Cohutta, Dunbar, KellyAnne, Parisia...
Those aren't names, they're something you slur out while you're drunk trying to say something else. Damn crack head american parents.

Only because there's no gas chambers, oh well give Johnny another term and we might get them.

...what the fuck? Those are names? I thought some of the Aussie inventions were bad.

*Whispers so the Americans on the forum don't hear* I don't like Americans generally - I find them loud, rude, ignorant and with a poor sense of humour. I hope too many of them don't come here and annoy us.

Yeah, but the problem is that the show being filmed in Sydney will act like a bucket of shit does to flies...

Oh well, Sydney's shit anyway, pretty hard to ruin. As long as they stay up there I'm happy.

hah the show looks fun, id watch it and i hate reality tv (but love my sydney

i had a stereotype of americans before i spent the last several months travelling around south america and to my surprise almost every american ive met has managed to destroy that stereotype, most are open minded, great fun to hang around and can drink / party aswell as aussies, smart, well read, can speak spanish better than most other travellers etc. although i guess the americans who travel to south america would be a bit different to those who travel to Europe just like the Australians in countries like India etc are different to the drunken idiot yobbo australians who are giving us shit names over in europe

stereotypes are fun

This is correct.

Some of the Australian tourists in Europe are downright embarrassing!

Always a good idea to stay away from the uncultured ocker yobbo Aussies when you're travelling!!!
HOW EMBARRASSMENT!!!

so lets get this straight

The American's idea of the real world is sending a bunch of meatheads to another country, putting them up in a luxury apartment, paying all their expenses to party, and following them (no doubt conspicuously) with cameras.

Yeah, obviously what happens to them is an accurate reflection of the real world.

That's assuming you're actually 'thinking' about it on anything more than a transitory level.
We're talking average American full time, jaded TV viewer here, slightly smarter than the average amoeba

Walter, what is your fascination with racial stereotypes?

what is more worrying is this..

quote:
The Daily Star Newspaper has reported that rock God, Gene Simmons has signed up to take part in this years; Im A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

ITV bosses hope that the Kiss guitarist will bring some excitement to the jungle, and as he is no stranger to reality TV shows, they can be assured that he will perform for the cameras.

It is rumoured that Gene will be joined in Australia by former supermodel Janice Dickinson and TV psychic Sally Morgan, when the show returns later this year.

I hope they don't discover the real world, by accidently wandering into Bankstown.
