Torq error index

I just got Torq recently and I've noticed times when it sounds pretty horrible. Especially (for some reason) when playing non-edm tracks that are really clean and mellow (like ambient or post-rock stuff). Some of the worst, most noticeable degradations to the audio quality seem like the software isn't perfectly recognising the timecode from the vinyl, and so the track will occasionally skip very slightly. Anywho, I'm wondering what 'normal' values for Torq's "error index" are (viewable through the preferences window), as mine are hovering between 0.1 and 0.2, and I have a feeling this has something to do with my issues...

ill have to verify this but usually mine hover around -0.1 and .01 and i dont have any of the problems you describe. did you read the manual at all because it covers some basic things about connections that may not be obvious. also, i use the control CD's rather than vinyl so maybe thats related, since your using vinyl?

also check the torq-dj.com forums as they may have a solution.

try switching between relative and absolute mode...oddly one of my decks skips like no other on absolute mode...it had an error index of 1.something

also, check your needles

How old are your needles? I'm assuming your using tt's... the skipping is most likely because of wornout needles., i shouldnt say worn out but degraded ones.. only time i get skipping is when i notice a nice chunk of dust stuck on the needle.

in terms of the sound quality your're getting i'm not sure.. if your pc/laptop can handle it put the buffer to 32 in preferences of torq... i run a mac 2.16 intel core 2 duo w/2gb ram and with ambient tracks it sounds fine... go search torq's forum, there's a lot of threads similar to yours. if worse comes to worse... call tech. support and swap the conectiv you got and see what happens. gl!
