Has anyone driven/ridden in a Megane R26
Has anyone driven/ridden in a Renault Megane R26? (Has to be the R26, don't care about the 225 or the Cup)
I know its bloody rapid, but I need to know if the ride is as bad as reviews say?
Thing is, I like a bit of a hard ride (ha ha, settle down you dirty minds) but I'd like to know whether its too hard
No I can't test drive one and find out for myself, theres only 60 in Australia and Renault won't give anyone a test drive without money on the table.
Its this, a Golf GTI (driven, nice, its in front at the moment), keep my money for frivolity, or buy a house.............
i love how u edited dirty minds and pkc
there's a real person in your sig. this will take some getting used to.

I'll also take opinions on the Renaultsport Clio 197
Buy a house you tard.
Car = expense
House = asset
The Megane R26, nice rapid car but not the fastest out there for the same kind of money.
Quality wise, very well put together car, suspension and handling is crisp, you do get a bit of understeer if pushing it to the limit round corners, its also easy to get it up on 3 wheels round the corners when gving it some stick as i found out on a track day at Donnington Park
Its not as harsh to drive as the cup or 225 variants (which are stripped back for as much speed and as less weight as possible)
The gearbox is exceptionally good, nice weighty gear changes, good solid feel to the box but the clutch is not that heavy, your left leg wont be singing out in agony after you have given the car a few laps round a track or driven it with gusto round the back roads.
Brakes are nice and sharp but i found after 10 laps of the donny circuit i was getting some brake fade but thats a circuit, brakes should be more than up to the job for enthusiastic road driving.
Overall its a nice sporty hatchback with plenty of speed, good torque right through the rev range, goes round corners like its on rails and is a pleasure to drive.
not driven the clio 197 but ppl i know who have say it too is an excellent little car and worth its money.

Haven't driven the R26 but did drive the Megane F1. Its a great car and a really entertaining drive but I'll stick with my DSG GTi. Nothing beats the double clutch gearbox

cars depreciate in value pretty quickly. imagine how much your little turbo matchbox will be worth when petrol is $4 a litre...
i still say buy a house. actually, buy a daihatsu charade (1 litre, not 1.3) and THEN buy a house.
