Arrow [Deep House] Adam Vana - Depth

creative title, right? haha - This is a special mix for me for a few reasons. The first is that I made this for my girlfriend of two years. The second is that I wrote a track for her that's in this mix, and it's my first time releasing a mix as a promo with one of my tracks in it. Hope you enjoy these lush, deep grooves. I love every one of these tracks and thought about doing a write up on them with the thread but I'm getting ready for a move in the next 36 hours so I'm kind of short of time. Comments/Criticism are welcome.

I have to say as usual its also great artwork.

2 songs in and it's pretty enjoyable so far... Curious to see where this one is gonna end up.

Posted by Blue Sky 99 on Aug-13-2007 20:52:

Very enjoyable set. And love the artwork too.

listening to this and liking it a lot, excellent shit

but i found that 100% kierrtaty kukukamashi dubilipipipisi track, or whatever it's called, first than you

Posted by nefardec on Aug-14-2007 23:46:

haha are you sure about that, noikee? it's really an amazing and delicate track

thanks for all the good feedback and downloads. I hope you find this something fresh and different - my goal always is to mix something that just makes you feel good to be alive.

i was able to put this on for my girlfriend and she loved it, so it's all worth it for me

btw the artwork is a render from an architectural project i did . its a 'bathscape' which is a stupid neologism i made up for easy typing which means a series of swimming pools, spas, baths, and gymnasia that are integrated into one meandering, built landscape. the project was is designed on a huge reclaimed peir in Red Hook, Brooklyn. the main design consideration was to create a series of therapeutic spaces, each more isolated than the next. there is heavy influence from the ruins of roman baths trapped under years of development. it is designed as a sort of monastic enviroment for the enjoyment of sun, water, space, time, and depth, a refuge for spiritual and physical rejuvenation

Had a listen today, thoroughly enjoyed it. I'll give it another listen or two and give some more specific commentary but all in all I was impressed.

Posted by Sushipunk on Aug-15-2007 04:25:

Definitely going to give this a listen

Posted by cheesenip on Aug-15-2007 05:19:

got a CUE File?

Posted by Allied Nations on Aug-15-2007 06:36:

in love with tracks one and 10 especially... put that your body remix in my last mix... its so nice... love hearing it!

gonna check this out now

Posted by nefardec on Aug-15-2007 11:00:

cool, yeah that mari boine remix was only released on vinyl as far as i know, thus my comment about the sony turntable.

i was originally going to open with this track ksoul + ra.h - turning point on sistrum records, but my girlfriend loves vuoi vuoi mu so it was a no brainer

maybe you will find this one more enjoyable than the last, i think it's a lot looser

Posted by SPAWNmaster on Aug-15-2007 13:14:

I was gonna say adam...the graphic almost reminds me of a modern take on roman thermae and I certainly feel, listening to the mix, as if I were wading a shallow pool.

you've certainly succeeded with another strong mix and I particularly enjoyed the second half. There was a strong sense of flow and the track selection was top-notch which are the 2 most important aspects of a mix for me. I wasn't a big fan of the mixing overall (technically, i mean), because as you know, we're both going through whatever this phase is. by traditional standards of course it's more than amazing but It's difficult for me to not hear the distinctions of blended tracks as opposed to one overall symphony (which as DJ's we should all strive for). I hope i've been clear.

Either thanks for another solid mix, and I've certainly enjoyed the vibe more than anything else...just makes me feel great all around and it's a perfect pool-side mix to listen to.

Cheers
-andrew

Fucking Vana scores again.

Will give you more thoughts later (probably), but there isn't much to say - as good as Tantra (though maybe a bit more 'upbeat' ??), will be getting many, many plays over the next few months.

Posted by nefardec on Aug-15-2007 16:09:

andrew: yeah the tracks are much different and i responded a lot differently with the mixing. i found it very difficult to mix many of these ones

also this summer has changed my outlook a lot on mixing, especially after hearing some quality francois k sets

definitely aa mix about the vibe though

rob - glad you liked it i should hope that promo number 2 on my cdjs isn't the pinnacle of my deejaying experience

Posted by Sushipunk on Aug-15-2007 23:02:

Gave this a listen yesterday - Great set man
