Ambient/Downtempo Techno

Looking for some tracks in this style for a personal mix. Hard genre to find good tunes for it seems, least for a layman like me.

here are some tracks I would label as such.

Serafin - Liquid Daydream
Theorem vs Swayzak - Break in at apt. 205 (kind of understated tune but I find it brilliant)
Theorem - Fallout
Agnes - Things recur
Theorem vs Stewart Walker - Recoil
Minilogue - Birdsong
Trentemoller + Buda - Gamma (made myself a nice version mixed together with an edited by me minilogue remix)

I was going to add the Agnes remix of Carbonela, but im not sure it would suit. Damn I love that track though, I'll have to do a second mix based around that one perhaps. A kind of part 2 with mix one building up to that kind of level maybe.

Anyway, I digress. Looking for Ambient or Downtempo Techno recommendations please. I actually love soundscape type stuff, so if you are aware of a DJ whom I could track down some mixes of that makes nice soundscapes out of this genre that would be great too. As it seems these genres are ripe for layering and making real nice mixes even for an amateur like myself. Initial attempts have been good at trying this out. I understand not everyone likes it, but I love long drawn out mixes, with finding tunes that can be layered over eachother. Most likely 'The Orb' are to blame for this as its them I started out with electronic music with, and they made beautiful soundscapes early on (im digressing again ).

Hope some folks can help. I love this style and its just damn tough to find that many good tunes like this. I care not how old the tunes are.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Slowly working my way through, starting with the ones I havent heard anything of before. I am absolutely blown away by 'Maurizio' as suggested by bubbleguuum, amazing artist. Talk about tunes standing the test of time, those 1997 tunes sound like they could have been released last week.

honestly most techno artists have some experimentation into more ambient moods so it's definitely out there. just make sure you are checking out all the aliases...

Joris Voorn has had a few nice tracks produced lately on the atmospheric/melodic side.

I highly suggest just taking a day or two to listen to SomaFM's stations Drone Zone (Ambient) and Groove Salad (Chillout/Downtempo).

I wasnt aware of that place, many thanks for the link. Ive been enjoying some nice tunes on there for the past couple hours. Unfortunately quite a few dont seem to be for download at Beatport, such a shame as im hearing some real nice stuff there.

Particularly loving that ambient type of station, just what I was looking for in order to create some 'soundscape' type mixes for myself.

probably way off the mark here but some of the tracks on Collabs 3000 (Liebing & Speedy J) maybe?? - especially Modish Ride but this could be deemed hard enough i suppose

Looks like you've already found Theorem, who is awesome. Check out more of his stuff.

I also highly recommend NODE 1. They are on one of my favourite labels of all time, Boxer Recordings, who also host Duoteque, Ekkohaus and Maximilian Skiba. State Zero is a great track. Someone already mentioned Laudert, I'm pretty sure he also has a Boxer release.

Yeah im loving Theorems work, in particular the album he did with other artists like Swayzak. Also the unreleased track called 'Core' is very dark and moody too, but thats leaning way more in the direction of ambient than anything else (as opposed to his more techno orientated tracks). Nothing wrong with that though, I like ambient tunes.

Tracked down that 'State Zero' tune, loving it. Thanks for pointing me in its direction.
