The official - vote rob turner for dj mag top 100 thread

Some of you have probably seen that we've been posting random shit about voting for our favourite balding crackhead into the dj mag poll, but here's the basic deal....

objective
1. It's for fun. We're doing it for a laugh, like we did with Mikey 2 years ago. It is in no way an indication of Robs skills as a DJ but the idea is to get one of us into the list for shits & giggles, preferably more of the latter

2. So many people on this forum and worldwide treat the list so seriously. It is like a bible to them and they seem to fail to realise what it really is. By mass voting for Rob we can prove that anybody with some spare time and a desire to get in can do so. Also the amount of spam emails we all get from people begging for our vote is ridiculous. See this as a 2 fingered salute to them.

Already, these have begun...

PersonalUnseen 299 08:32:03 deepbluerecords.co.uk {Disarmed} Vote Solarstone! 4 KB
PersonalUnseen 296 01:49:24 Gareth Emery DJ Mag Top 100 Poll 2007 6 KB

Now for the latter, i've had a hell of a problem getting off their spam list. I complained once on tnu and someone from the pr group said the usual 'we dont mean to send u if u don't want it' bullshit. Funnily enough i unsubscibed again and guess what. A month later I got the same crap.

What we as the cor need to do
http://www.djmag.com/index.php?op=t...op100dj_op=vote

Voting Opens: 15 August 2007.
Voting Closes: 25 September 2007.
Winner Announced: 24 October 2007.

to vote you need an email address to confirm your vote. It only takes a couple of minutes & we'll appreciate anyone who can help.
We're looking for the voting slip to go for Rob Turner as all of it needs to be the same, there's no use us voting for rjt or dj rjt or dj mozart turner or something, it's a waste of collective energy.

What we need to do this

Ok, we're looking for a few things here to help

we'd like someone to make us a small sig, pref 400x100 max that we can display. rob's picked a funny pic of churchill that he'd like to use. for this i'm looking at my favourite angel, or ygrene or anyone who can do stuff like this

tell your friends about it

join our facebook group (in my sig)

subliminal messaging. Random 'Vote Rob Turner' postings would be fun

I'll let Rob add anything else he wants to. Remember, a vote for rob turner is a vote that won't be wasted, only rob himself will be.

but rob is actually a good DJ... that's no fun!

Posted by eROs.au on Aug-15-2007 10:13:

you think he can do better than mikey?

so is mikey, it's just fun to fuck with the system

And eros, I dunno. We don't know just how many votes mikey got and talk was he'd actually cracked the 100 but they pushed him back, who knows. It gives us something to play with for a while, that's about it

Posted by shaw on Aug-15-2007 10:17:

there should be at least 300,000 votes this year. Gonna take a lot...

Posted by shaw on Aug-15-2007 10:19:

there were about 120,000 when mikey mike got in, so it'll take about 3x as many this time around.

Posted by Ian on Aug-15-2007 10:19:

aye. lets be honest, anywhere in the 250 will be fun, we know rob, as many of our great amateur dj's here on ta, are as capable as many of these big names, so to get any sort of recognition for them, even if gets them 1 gig based on it (which would be funny, "i've seen you in the dj mag poll and want u to play for us at trance energy rob") then we've made a difference

ya im down. it was fun last time with all the spamming lol.

Posted by Rinster on Aug-15-2007 10:34:

Not really. I'd be willing to bet those extra 200 000 votes are gonna be spread out amongst 10 or so people. Probably the assholes who have been spamming my inbox for the last 24 hours (how the hell did they get my email?)

There's no reason to think that the percentages are going to change dramatically.

Posted by Ian on Aug-15-2007 10:50:

a huge percentage of the votes are only for a small percentage of people though, I don't know the exacts but i'd say anyone below that could be in with a chance with some clever promotion.

no, I know that, but it's fair to assume that the #1, #50, #110, & #251 people will still get the same percentage of the votes, respectively. If Mikey Mike got to #110, with 120,000 people voting, it'll probably take 3 times as many votes as he got in '05 to get to 110 this year, since there will be about 3x as many people voting.

Why so?

it'll probably get well over 300,000 votes this year (350k's probably a reasonable guess), based on the growth in years past. there were 120,000 when mikey mike made it. simple math.

why is it growing? I'll leave that to somebody else.

I'd support with a sig, but my cow's been paying his rent. In blood.

Posted by Boomer187 on Aug-15-2007 11:30:

wouldn't it be more fun to pick a fictional dj, something like DJ harry potter and vote them in. You are ridiculing the system, why not get a fictional dj to the top 100.

that to me is impressive.

Posted by shaw on Aug-15-2007 11:31:

if you're making a sig, it needs to include a form of this:
