London help

I'm going to be there for work in a couple weeks. I may check out some clubs. Recommendations? I've been to London before but never really gone out there.

Posted by verndogs on Aug-15-2007 14:28:

i haven't been to any of the clubs

but the area around Angel is a cool place to hang out

i hope you're not staying in the city of london section. just about everything useful in that section closes at 5 PM

Check out Fabric, along with Turmills trance night called the Gallery, The End, and The Cross.

Have fun.

Check out The Cross for sure, that place is amazing... also, The End... late late night spots are The Key, and The Egg - sick. The whole house scene there is unreal.

Let me know when you have the exact dates Molly and I'll give you a list of places to check out for clubs,,food and shops..

Posted by ingy6969 on Aug-15-2007 16:12:

check out the End ....but i would say you should most def go to fabric and turnmills

5pm?? what do you mean by useful...London has a 24 alcohol license, which means that the afterhour clubs never stop serving booze, as well as restraunts etc etc

just be prepard to spend lots of money, the pound is pretty strong just now

i'm talking about the financial district, which is known as "the city" section. i couldn't change my travelers checks at all since everything was closed around that area when I left the office.

Hopefully this thread on the UKTA forum is helpful - http://tranceaddict.com/forums/show...7&forumid=14&s=

Pick up a copy of Time Out London when you're there. Expensive, but worth it.

From the places I remember, I've been to Heaven (for a Gatecrasher/Vandit night - I think it's a gay club most of the time) and Ministry of Sound. Other possibilities are: Fabric, Turnmills, The End, Pacha, Cross

If you're there during a Bank Holiday weekend, there will be lots going on

Molly avoid anything UK TA like the plague..The majority of them are fucking assholes...When I first came onto TA 4 years ago before I came to America,,I made a thread asking for British opinions of clubs in New York..The only response I got was to check out the ones at the ""Projects and at Ground Zero""...

i couldn't do it at my hotel, and all the places near there closed at 5 PM

KiiiiiiingChiiiiiiinc where the hell have you been? Haven't seen you out in eons. Thanks.

Thanks for all the info y'all.

Steven, I'll be there from 8/27 to 9/3 so labor day weekend will be my time to explore. Any specifics you know about would be excellent.

I may chicken out on going clubbing alone. But I'll definitely feel out my London officemates to see if any of them are cool like that, hopefully I can find a buddy who wants to go.

Oooh, Turnmills/The Gallery has Josh Wink and Martin Roth and a bunch of others on 8/31...

Cor Fijneman and Jon O'Bir are playing that night too, at Peach.

Can any of you give me some insight as to the size of these two places? the crowd, the vibe?

It would be interesting to know how many you have been to and how much time you spent in London...

The majority of clubs in NYC are horrible,,but at least I can formulate that opinion after spending four years here and going to nearly every single one of them....

i miss the indian food in london

Hope you have a blast Molly
Take lots of pics!!

As for the clubs, the ones I would have mentioned have already been said. Fabric, Turnmills and The End are the ones I hear most about to check out.

absolutely!!!!!!! It's the only thing I ever ate in London when I was there. It's definitely worth the money!

I had two friends who grew up in India, and both say that the Indian food in London was hands down the best they've ever had

they are not lying at all.
