Question Panhandling

You just know there's going to be a discussion in Toronto about panhandling again, following the murder on Queen Street (allegedly...but come on)at the hands of panhandlers. So the question here is not about whether it should be banned, but whether you give money out if asked.

I need some form of entertainment for me to give. However, I give to the United Way through payroll contributions, which helps with the big picture instead of one-on-one.

I never give money.

But I always share nurishment if I have it.

The way I see it....I am hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt right now....they should be giving my their spare change.

If you're able of mind and body to help yourself, then fucking do it says I. I feel no duty/responsibility to people like that.

Whenever people ask me for change, I tell them "change comes from within".

It is a blight on this city and frankly does nothing to assist these people in solving the problems that have brought them to the street.

The city should outlaw it and enforce it.

I believe it is far more humane to deny them the money... if everyone were to do it they would be forced to find gainful employment or they would die... either fate is better then continuing as they do.

Enjoy it. It's facking awsome.

So dissapointed to learn the rest of the story won't be told. HBO didn't pick up the remaining 4 seasons.

Maybe. But it isn't when some bum is asking me for money I earned.

Posted by CAKE on Aug-17-2007 19:33:

I'm against it ... It really bothers me when people bug me for change on the street or jump on cars to try to wash the windshield one time the kid broke my buddies mirror while trying to get change from us.

Posted by Jem_hadar on Aug-17-2007 19:48:

One time when me and Jay were driving with Nada and Ali, we were stopped somewhere around Queens Quay and Yonge I assume, and some homeless person came around the stopped cars at the light (we were like first or second from the intersection) and started to beg for money...

Blackness in turn starts begging HIM for money going on and on about how his grandmother is dying, she just needs a few dollars, blah blah blah... OMG IT WAS SO FUNNY!

The bum couldn't deal with Jay's insistent and enthusiastic requests for money and he quickly left us to both ppl that wouldnt bother him. LOL it was PURE GOLD... Jay fucking begged money of the beggar! HAHAHAHA

Only Jay could do that keeping a straight face the entire time, like he was being serious and that his grandmother was really dying and why couldnt the bum just give him a few dollars for his grandmother.... hahaha

I refuse to give them money. They have all the help available to get themselves off the streets, and its not like they're severely disabled, preventing them to take up a decent job.

A few days ago I even had one with a cell-phones on his hand come up to me for money. I was so close to giving him a big "Fuck off. I'm a student living on change to feed myself!"

Anyone else think it would be better to the city if we just 'got rid' of all the homeless people?

No, I agree. I think we need to send in Chuck Norris to 'roundhouse kick to the face / dispose of' them all, too!

I disagree. It would be better to the city to put them all in a factory. Might as well make some use out of them.
