PVD @ Summerstage review (Saturday)
Holy shit...what an awesome show. Weather was perfect....couldn't have asked for a better day/night. I felt the music and overall performance tonight was much better than last night. Crowd was way more into it tonight also. I stayed for the live acts tonight and I have to say....I was really impressed! Took a shit load of photos...can't wait to get off work and upload them......now the question is can I make it though work.....last night was ROUGH.

i had fun. the people i was with made it a good time. caught a brief glimpse of al tonight.
Big thumbs down for the lack of adequate amount of porta potties.........AGAIN
Totally Agree. Why cant they get things right. They need about 100 more toilets and more beer stands. Same crap every year. Anyway, what a show. He played everything I wanted. Drums were sick. Vocals were ok. Bed time....

Paul Van Dyk feat. Ashley Tomberlin - New York City
I watch the sky turn black to blush
Head still spinning from the rush
Of all the things I did the night before
And looking down from my hotel
These dawn-lit streets begin to fill
With memories of you and I
On a New York City night
I shake my head to clear the sounds
The traffic horns, the growing crowd
The sun awaking over central park
But still it creeps beneath my skin
All of these heartbeats in the din
With concrete dreams stirring to life
On a New York City night
And I take it with me when I leave
The crowded skyline, the energy
The sleepless city always leaves its mark
Just close my eyes and I'm back again
The neon flush upon our skin
Still wrapped in thoughts of love and wine
On a New York City night
Best PvD CP set since the monsoon set of a few years ago...up until the last hour or so. It was as if he magically transported us to Wisconsin.

Left around 9,guess I missed an hour of fun. But overall the night was amazing. And indeed people, that was one hell of a fucking set.
fantastic set, drums were fucking AMAZING when they kicked in as for an angel started, the vocalists were ok. i liked the female vocalists better than the guys except for time of our lives, that was great. only problem i had was i thought the sound could've been much louder, but all together, he put on an awesome show and he reminded me of how much i do love trance.
It was nice to hear the crowd singing during Other Side, Time of Our Lives, etc. Lots of energy and a really nice set from Paul - i guess now everytime he wears a polo it's go-time! The disco ball from Studio 54 added a nice touch during certain songs when it beamed out matrix-styled letters all over the place. I was shocked to actually hear Paul speak at the end of the night, he's usually very mute. My tracklist isn't exactly in order, as close as I remember it and from the guidance of my videos... i'm missing a lot from the first two hours but here goes...

lasers were weak...
i may be the only negative person in here, but here goes:
Paul played too much techno and house, too many buildups some of which were delayed by two bars and confused the hell out of the crowd and then when the buildups came, everyone started jumping and the dust went up in the air, there were too many drunken meatheads who only cared to yell "yeaaah pee vee dee" from time to time (of course you can't do anything about that), the sound system was too loud with the highs (hurt my ears at times) and not loud enough with the mids, so combined with what he played, the music sounded like it was all the same, Paul was on the knobs too much - should lay off a bit from the low-pass filter
excellent lighting, nice of Paul to play "another way" (although a strange mashup), great attitude on Paul's part, nice video screens, i liked that he used a midi keyboard to play along with the tunes, glad i missed "time of our lives" if he even played it the second night, cool that he uses the same sony headphones that i do
maybe i'm picky, too old skool and did not realize what PVD was all about, but i was not satisfied, neither was my friend. we left early, just as it seemed Paul was getting into the "trance" part (played The Anthem, what a shit tune). overall, an amazing performance, but not worth the $60 and the 3hr drive. i did not expect him to play techno and it seemed like the set was pre-arranged in Ableton (is this the standard nowadays?)
one of the house tunes I recognized was Lange vs. Gareth Emery - Another You, Another Me (Terranova & Austin Leeds Remix), quality track, but i consider it to be more a filler than a set carrier.

i loved the techno and house but i will agree about the crowd being confused when the buildups came and stupid people just yelling "pvd" for the hell of it.
