Happy Science Week

....yer I dunno why there is a week for it either. at least it makes more sense than "reconciliation day/womens day/awareness week"

*goes off to play with more fire*

Go science!!!

Yay for throwing pure sodium in to a bucket of water.

Posted by BJeT on Aug-26-2007 03:00:

Even better with K or Cs

Posted by gumble on Aug-26-2007 03:30:

i remember our science teacher in year 8 throwing a tennis ball sized lump of potassium into the ocean. our school was right on the beach. it made a nice little explosion.

we only ever got to play with little bits tho.

uni chem was a bit more fun, everyone thought i was a mass druggie due to the purity of my precipitates

Posted by gumble on Aug-26-2007 03:33:

oh yer, was anyone else in Double Helix (science club) back in primary school?

lol

Would you think badly of me if I told you that I subscribe to this journal/magazine nowadays? (for educational/professional reasons of course)

ooohhh wierd science!! one of my fav movies of all time lol, fantastic movie!!!

aaahhh real science.... i really really loved chemistry when we started learning about it all in year 9 or 10.... really took my interest! the periodic table... oooomg, one big infinite piece puzzle..... fantastic!

i swear, if i was more of an intelect i would have loved to persue chemistry more! kinda really dissapointing because im amazed by chemistry and i understood alot of it, where as alot of my class didnt give a shit and didnt wanna try understand... but i did! if i was given the opportunity to be tought properly about chemistry again, i would so take it! all i was told was that when it gets deeper into it, alot of complex maths comes into it, but there again... if i was more of an intelect then i would have a chance its sad

i love those shows on ABC about science and chemistry that i seem to catch extreeemly rarely, once again, takes my interest and i understand and wanna learn!

I hated uni chem. I was always the one who took 5 hours to do the prac and calculations because I was so crap at it. ewww. chem

GO Bio!!

Posted by gumble on Aug-26-2007 23:47:

see, thats why you need a good lab partner + someone who did the course last year's, notes.

I swear I only got through uni by knowing people that had done the class before me. And of course I return the favour by passing on all my assignments to those doing my class after me

Posted by Teflon_Teapot on Aug-27-2007 00:02:

yep double helix ftw

I've had some wicked lab partners in my time the best one was my second year organic chem one she proof read all my prac so i would get a good mark. LOL.

But if i we ever had to go on our own I was always the last one out.

This is EXACTLY how I passed physics, ecology and statistics.

Yeh Weird Science is awesome.

Highlight of year 6 camp to Canberra was Questacon!

Posted by DJ Marak on Aug-27-2007 13:54:

nah i dont think we actually did anything too chemistryish prac wise... more theory, but that was fine with me lol i loved it, got right into it!

ooohhh one thing we touched on was the 3 types of polymers and how they are different and what makes them different

im finding out more chemistry with a few of the boys late at night in secluded areas... but shhhh on that one

LOL-- the elite of the future chem field, who can only pass by cheating

Posted by gumble on Aug-28-2007 02:25:

.... but who excel in reproducing information in an undetectable manner.

i didnt major in chem, in fact, I've forgotten it all.

Posted by Philby on Aug-28-2007 13:29:
