Pros of a MacBook
Hey there... looking into macbook pros and ibooks.... wondering what is my best bet and why i should go back to mac's.... ive wanted a mac for about 2 years now... and seriously considering it now.... your opinions are greatly appreciated...
how about:
no crazy error messages.
no bizarre file paths and crazy digging for folders.
not having to worry about viruses all the time.
and turning on your computer for the first time and having everything work with ease.
but,
things are a bit over simplified and i feel that user control is diminished as a result.
and youre also gonna have a hard time finding good software. free and shreware type stuff.
msn is shit on a mac too. sending files is extremely slow. messages dont get delivered. signing in and out unexpectedly.
i still recommend one
btw i hate macs

Also its not stable at all, the computers we've had in Mac Labs would fucking freeze everytime i used it, i call it the spinning circle of death that never stops spinning, no you can't ctr alt del, you have to restart losing all your work. |

I did graphics on a mac and it was really fucking slow, shit would crash, it took much longer to do what i wanted, windows would constantly minimize and disappear, i was using one button mouse which is even more fucking annoying.. it took much longer to render stuff that i did in video or 3d, i don't understand the hype + they are much more expensive, whats the point? macs are useless and overrated. (I'm not even going to talk about how shitload of programs and formats are not supported on a Mac and you are forced to use limited software you are provided with) |

Biggest and best reason for me for Mac vs. PC:
When I work, I like to actually work, not spend most of my time fighting with my computer to try and do what I want. With a Mac, I don't have to fight, I just get to work.
When you do pick up a Mac, you'll want to check out this link too:

If you're about to blow a big sum for a mac, you should get a Lenovo instead.
These machines are rock solid and I am now a believer (I have one at work!).
Macs are annoying for anyone who've been using PCs and all of their usabilities... I feel chained when using a mac.
good luck!

I have a T43 at work, and I am jealous of the ones who just got their T60s fully loaded!! I did some benchmarks with the software I wrote and they friggin rock! 2 to 1!

The fingerprint biometric is so pron.
what is this notebook going to be used for?
if you look at software, hardware, and even over-all functionality, a PC is much more versatile in almost every sense.
if you go with a mac, all that's happening is you're paying more money, and you'll continue to pay more money in the future, for limited software and hardware. oppose to having a wide range of options for both of the aforementioned, with a pc (at a much, much cheaper price) and god forbid you need your notebook repaired, you might as well buy a new computer...where as a PC is much cheaper to maintain and upgrade. simple as that.
mac notebooks imo, are nothing more than an overrated fad.

I have a mac and I quite enjoy them. My reasons for choosing one were as follows.
I do a lot of scientific programming and as a result, I am frequently on a linux system. The mac has a nice unix (well free BSD) core under it and it interfaces well with those systems. I like the fact that I can pull up a terminal and have a unix terminal right there. I would have gone with a PC with a linux install except for reason number two. I like to mess around with music software and there is none that is good for linux and the mac OS has a lot of great software.
Basically, for me, the Mac was a good mix of what i needed. If you are going to get one don't get the MSN port available from microsoft. You can darwin port one of the linux clients and run it under OSX.

95% of the population has no reason for Linux terminal - and as such that should not be a reason for getting a computer.
love my mac.
