Need some fast help

ok well I just got some money, and I want to buy some turntables of my own instead of having to use the place where I work at.
I was looking around and found this package deal thing
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/prod...Pack?sku=804028
I know the mixer is a piece of shit, but oh well. Is that a good package worth buying? Are there better out there? Would it be better to buy everything by itself and not as a package? Should i even bother with vinyl and just get CD?

you get what you pay for. i suggest just getting cd decks, at least you know a cd deck can hold its pitch (unlike budget level turntables). the media is more cost effective as well.

well then would it be worth getting a better set like

or just get everything individually....and i dont really wanna go with CD's because I like the feel and whatnot of vinyl, if you could link me some good decent priced CD packages be my guest

no, not at all. not to sound like an elitist but it's pretty much tech12's or nothing. i did the same thing you're thinking about doing- i bought budget direct drive TT's when i first started out (numark tt200) and while i got the drift of playing vinyl on them no problem, i didn't realize what the fuss was about tech's until i actually played on them. you don't want to waste your money on something you're inevitably going to have to upgrade anyways.

you go ahead and spin your expensive-ass wax, but i'm a firm believer in CD.

same here. I also got a DXM06 mixer, brand new for $180.

You can get 1200's used for around $200-$300 each. Average is $250. If your budget is around $500, you should get two used 1200's, and save up for a mixer.

I agree... If you're going to get turntables, get tech 1200s.

Doesn't really matter if you get MK2s, M3Ds or MK5s, they're all solid decks that will last a long, long time and provide reliable performance.

Find a used set in good condition. You'll save a good chunk of $$. Seems the MK5's sell new for about a grand a pair, yet you can get a good set of used M3D's for about half that.

The other nice thing about this is if you decide to resell them, they hold their value. I bought mine used 5 years ago and I could turn around and get my money back. A quick look over eBay shows they are still selling for what I paid for them. You can't say that for many pieces of electronics.

go to ebay and get 2 numark tt500's and a numark dxm06 mixer. if you want the stuff new and now, it will cost you about 650 plus shipping. if you're patient, you can shop around on ebay, and get it all for 500-550.

if you need any tips on ebay (how to bid effectively), let me know..

from my expierence...the cost of some 1200's are pretty much standard in southern california, give or take a few bucks here and there. there really isnt much of a profit margin on those. when i used to work at guitar center, if i remember correctly, base price was around 50 bucks or so from retail. but that always can change.

guitar center works on comission, so you can totally haggle your price down. best bet...get a price quote from agiprodj since they have pretty good prices...and if you want your gear that day, try and print something out or let the sales reps know that you got a price quote from agi, and see if they can either match it or beat it...guitar center usually goes pretty low in order to get the sale.

just some fyi
