Evil1 anyone ever complain to beatport?

i bought a track over a week ago that has a pretty bad skip in the middle of it... i downloaded it twice to be sure if somehow it downloaded wrong (don't know if that's possible) and still the skip was there. i emailed [email protected] as i was instructed to do so by the website and gave them all the info they needed.

it's been almost 2 weeks now and i've sent 3 emails already and not one response... has anyone had this problem before?

They've been good to me in the past

Posted by echosystm on Aug-24-2007 06:13:

i have purchased 6 songs from beatport.

2 were refunded.

Posted by skip on Aug-24-2007 09:19:

their customer service is crap. you gotta bug them a million times to get a refund. and if you'd like a proper version of the track instead, you're not gonna get it. they will do nothing to get a good version of the track, they don't give a fuck.
if i were beatport, i'd contact the label the track was from and ask for a good version, but for some reason they won't do that.
anyway, you'll get your refund eventually if you bug them enough.

It's not Beatport's responsibility to provide good quality tracks. It's their work to sell that what their clients (Labels) offer. If a track isn't up to par the label is the point to adress by default. Sometimes beatport does have faulty mp3s and so on though.

I've once discovered one of my tracks was uploaded faulty (last 3 min of the track where missing). I offered them the wav file in the email I sent and they've corrected it within 24h without even contacting the label owning the actual rights on the track. Very quick and good service from my experience.

Never had to ask for a refund. I've never experienced problems with downloads.

[edit]But then again I only downloaded about 200 tracks thus far .

Can confirm.

I've found their service exemplary, on the condition that a) you provide your user ID and b) the transaction ID.

They usually refund me within 24hrs if I provide these.

messeges of the messege board all the time that they didnt like and ignore any complaints.

of course it's beatport's responsibility, they're the ones selling the products and if the product is defective, they should replace it with a working one or give you a refund. of course it's not beatport's fault in many cases that the tunes are faulty, it's the label's fault most of the times, but a consumer shouldn't have to contact the label in order to get a good quality track as that would be something beatport should do. but beatport will not contact the labels and ask for a proper working version of a faulty track, they'll just give you a refund and leave it at that. and IMO that's kind of lazy of them, but i guess they get enough money as it is, so they don't have to care about customer service that much.

Maybe I've been unclear. Beatport is responsible for providing a refund if the download/file is broken, and for their quality's sake of course find a proper replacement for the file, just as you said.

However if you dislike a song for some reason (too short), or if the quality of it isn't up to par (bad mastering/mixing) it's not beatports responsibility. That's what I'm saying. When referring to quality tracks in my earlier reply I just meant that in terms of sound quality. That's what the label should take care off.

If there's plops and/or cuts in the track Beatport should take them off asap when they've been informed to get the proper version. Of course.

ok, i misunderstood you the first time then. i agree with everything you said.

this thread just reminded me that i sent Beatport an e-mail a week ago about a track that skips 1:20 away from the end of the track, and i haven't heard anything back yet.

previously they've always been wonderful about getting back to me right away and refunding my money. i've e-mailed support probably 7 or 8 times in the last 2 years, and the latest occurence is the only time i've had a problem with them responding.

time to bug 'em again!

Posted by nefardec on Aug-24-2007 16:20:

i contacted them when they declined a new credit card repeatedly and they fixed it in about a week.

no real problems

now that i am living in the european union though i am getting assraped with their price policy

i feel for you guys

and that's my case. there's a nasty skip in the middle of a track and i emailed them with my account name, order number, even the item number and every other detail possible and still no response. going to email them now for the fourth time.

Posted by Project-K on Aug-25-2007 02:29:

I had a similar problem with a track that had errors in it. Emailed them 4 times over a period of 2 weeks - never got any response. Then I just gave up. Now I accept that whenever I buy something from them I'm taking a risk of throwing my money down the drain. Usually when I make a purchase about 1 out of every 50 tracks or so has a problem and customer support will be either useless or nonexistant.

Bought a track from them, turns out it is ripped from mixed CD Useless for mixing. Emailed them, no response. Why would they even try to sell mixed tracks on website aimed at DJs? They could at least warn people that certain tracks are incomplete, so those can be avoided. Its only happened once to me, and since i have been buying a lot from them, losing $2.50 in not the end.

I guess they expet you to look at the album it came from and to see if it is a mixed CD or not, but damn I feel so lucky to not have any problems with beatport so far...however i seem to have limitless problems when it comes to me buying vinyl Q_Q

Posted by basilisk on Aug-27-2007 17:03:

I had that happen--bought a track that was heavily mixed. I was refunded. Maybe you guys aren't emailing the right address?

update - just got refunded for it.

also, whenever i e-mail them i forward my original receipt to [email protected] and just explain the problem so they know what order the track came from and who to refund.

Just find the same file at a different site...or just wait till they've fixed it (they should let you know..refund you, it's good to bring it to their attention). I mean if it's a really big track... I can see that, but it's nothing to really worry about. Not like you wasted thousands of dollars...just $1.99....less than the price of a grande mocha at Starbucks.

honestly i know it's only $1.99 and that doesn't really bother me... what bothers me is that it seems like customer service is nonexistant.

i don't like the fact that there's a risk in every track you buy that you just threw away $1.99 because of a skip and no one bothers to refund you. i know it's really rare but i mean if you're running a business, you shouldn't let things like that happen.

Same thing happened on my last batch. I:Cube - Adore. It's a soft breaks track and the outro is mixed into a house track. As usual, customer support is nonexistant.
