Predictive Text

Do you use it?

Hate it? Love it?

Personally, I couldn't do without it; I can no longer imagine how we used to send text messages before it was invented, doing each letter manually.

However, it's fairly often that I try to input a real word and complete jibberish comes up, and you wonder what the hell is in the phone's dictionary. It's really frustrating.

Today I tried typing the word "paladium", and it came up with "saladgun" instead.

What the hell is "saladgun"?

i hate that it uses "of" instead of "me" as first option.

i HATE predictive text... i do each symbol/letter/number manually. i'm a fast texter/typer anyway.

shit sucks.

If you're too lazy to type it out yourself, you shouldn't be allowed to text.

i never text.

Get a QWERTY and you'll doubt even pred-text.

my new phone doesnt have it. whenever i started to type "r-o-" on my old phone it would automatically enter "roflcopter"

ever since i got a blackberry pearl, I've started using predictive text. Makes texing and writing so much easier.

However, on a regular cell phone, I wouldn't use predictive texting. It's just too cumbersome

btw, i love predictive text except if im drunk or buzzed and dont double check what came up

what i like the most about predictive text is how you can program words into it. now "shit" "fuck" and "lollerskates" are the first words that come up.

When are they going to make a predictive text function for computer word processors? That would be great.

When they make keyboards of those word processors exactly like touch tone phone keypads

I've been using it ever since I got Sony Ericsson K750i (at the beginning of November 2006) and it really makes typing easier.
Now I find it hard to imagine going back to old letter-by-letter style typing.

Blackberry... full qwerty keyboard ftw. I feel so crippled when I use my regular phone...

I use it. it's set up how I like it.

Mine works nice in Portuguese...

LOL? I didn't think anyone in the world wouldn't be using predictive text by now, i have been for the last 7 years or so.

Tell me something, why wouldn't one want to use it?

Yeah but don't you have to punch the keys almost as often just to get the right word to come up? I don't see how it's any better.

lazyness. they dont want to keep using it to train it what you use most. when i had my razr i was able to type 3-5 words ahead of the damn thing. sometimes i had to slow down just so i could make sure i had what i wanted.

ps i no longer have a regular phone. qwerty ftmfw!

no. say you want to type amsterdam. you just hit the corresponding key ONCE. not however many times to get to that letter. if it does it wrong then you have to fix it, but as time goes on and the more you use it then it adapts.
