Virus Control 2.5!!! Out today!

woohoo, they did one of my requests!

quote:
OS 2.5 for Virus TI features a RTAS version of Virus Control for Digidesign Protools M-Powerered, LE and TDM users, optimisations for Imageline FL Studio 7 among other new features. This edition also includes beta support for Cakewalk Sonar and Steinberg Nuendo as well beta support for Microsoft Windows Vista. The new version introduces a special Live Mode which lowers the latency on certain hosts such as Ableton Live and Motu Digital Performer. We improved Virus Control's handling of songs with large amounts of track automation and added video tutorials for Steinberg Cubase and Digidesign Pro Tools. Various issues have been addressed and improved or bug fixed.

Awesome good timing! Hey maybe you can help me as I've only had my Virus Ti for about a month. I've got a project going pretty heavily using the Ti. Should I just finish the project before upgrading to 2.5 or would there be any risk in my upgrading to 2.5 now? Like would the project loading up properly be affected? Maybe a dumb question but still learning this thing.

Oh please do tell of this bug! I'm a Cubase user but a new Ti user can you elaborate?

Posted by DeZmA on Aug-24-2007 22:01:

if you use cubase 4 you can not add other automation than the pre-defined ones. So right clicking on VC and "add to automation" won't actually add it to the list cubase gives you.

it's a good question, perhaps its worth it to save a project as and install the virus 2.5... if it ruins your project, you can alwasy revert back to 2.0.

access's website very policitally correct makes sure to say 'we suspect no issues with this but if everything was working properly before there is no direct reason to upgrade' . most of the changes were to make the compatability easier with the various DAW'S...

a) I haven't had any problems on any of the previous upgrades affecting my projects. (Not to say that will be the case with this one)

b) It's public beta:

quote:
We make this build available as a public beta since our Pro Tools and Vista beta tester base is to small in order for us to insure that all possible issues have been ironed out. We have tested this version for several month and recommend it for all users who are willing to enjoy the benefits and report their impressions and eventual findings.

So unless you really need to upgrade; or are going to benefit as a ProTools etc use; maybe just hold off till the official release? (That's what I'm doing)

i don't use the virus. But when i updated my Novation SL61 to there new 'automap universal mode' i ran into song unexpected problems. So i think its always a good idea to finish whatever you're working on first before potentially screwing everything up with an upgrade.

Bugger, that's like 500+ tracks to finish.

over at virusti.com, people are having problems with this update and some have had projects ruined/gigs cancelled as a result.

Like Rusty said, this is the BETA release so unless you desperately need one of the fixes like vista support or something, I would wait till the official more stable version has been released

+1

I usually get an email from Access... did they send one out and my spam filter killed it?

I didn't get one either.

I didn't get an email either.

Why?

Probably because it's a beta release.

Posted by G-Con on Aug-28-2007 10:04:

yes its because its beta. I'm sure we will all get one when the official release comes out

I've been using this on Cubase 4 & Pro Tools 7.3 with no problems so far. Everything is working as smooth as it was on OS 2.0.5. The new RTAS Virus|Control works great and it's awesome to finally be able to use the TI with Pro Tools with ease.
